Yes
3 stars wouldn't see playing time til junior or senior year at BCS schools.
Brown- immediate playing time.
Lots of depth at WR. Somebody will redshirt. With Drec and Vinson becoming eligible again.

ESPN has Brown listed as the #65 OL in the country and a 3-star.

Once you get past the obvious 4-5 star players, the star system means very little anyway, especially when it comes to OL. I've seen quite a few 5-star OL duds at Alabama over the years. Last year our 3 star guys didn't even play (TJ McCollum, Justin Hunter/Andra Smith).

OL players are hard to grade because so much of it is mental. Blocking schemes are not that complex in and of themselves, but a team will employ a lot of different schemes, many of which are mutually exclusive, and nearly all of which can be audibled to from the line of scrimmage depending on what front the defense is in.
Add a degree of difficulty in the fact that the defense is moving often times up to the moment of the snap, and that your assignment is based off what position they are in at the snap.
Add an exponential level of difficulty in that it only takes 1 out of 5-7 people (depending on the formation) to screw up and make everyone look bad.
The result is that you can be a 6'6 320 natural athlete with all the measurables to be a great lineman, but if you can't react to the changing schemes without blowing assignments, you are not going to be an effective lineman.
Not being able to handle blocking schemes keeps a lot of very good RBs off the field as well. See White, Corey

RE: Signee Thread
Watching the recruiting show on ESPNU as they cover the big schools and their Top 300 players. When they reviewed C-USA at 10:30 AM they covered only 3 schools - Marshall, FAU and USM and didn't give any ranking within the conference as they did with the Big 5/6 conferences. I guess they just don't know other players than the 300 they beknighted.
One interesting thing was that two of USC Trojan recruits were listed as "QB/DT". That is REALLY a "dual purpose player".

From what I've seen of rankings (that are based on commits, not signees) Marshall was at the top of CUSA and we were 10th. However, average star rating was 2.36 for Marshall and 2.0 for us.

QB/DT doesn't mean Quarterback/Defensive Tackle. It means Quarterback/Dual Threat. QB/PP means Quarterback/Pocket Passer.

EJ Moss picks JSU. Fakes to the UAB hat initially before picking the JSU hat.
Odd choice with that much talent to pick an FCS over FBS. Even a bad FBS is going to generally get more national attention than an FCS. Good luck to him.

At least there is hope coach clark and walker can coach them up. I'm not saying moss was legit, but it was better than what we have.

Robert Mondie - JUCO already enrolled
We have most of our LBs back from last year plus a defensive minded head coach will probably help them more than anything.

I know it's not fair to compare given the rushed timeframe and all that, but how does this recruiting class compare to previous years in terms of talent?
