SWTCC recruits update
The Southwest men’s basketball team won two conference games over the weekend at the Verties Sails Gymnasium to improve its overall record to 15-2 on the season. Andre Brown scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.

On January 25, Perrin Buford scored 17 points and grabbed a season-high of 15 rebounds to lead the Saluqis past Roane State 80-66. Brown also had a season-high in rebounds with 17 boards, as Southwest outrebounded the Raiders by a 59-33 margin.

Andre Brown added 13 points and led the team with eight rebounds.

Here is your rebounder, folks.

So our recruits come from teams that are 15-2 and 22-2. I think it is always a positive to get guys from winning programs. It also makes it hard to tell how "good" they really are because they are just one piece of the puzzle. Every bad team will have a good scorer or 2. No matter how bad they are, somebody has to put up some points. However, that guy who averages 20 points a game might not even be good enough to see the floor on a top Juco team. Just an example- Alandis Harris was the best player on a mediocre ConUSA team. He now is, at best, a role player in the SEC. I do wish the kid had come back home to LR. He would have been an awesome 6th man, coming off the bench for Will or James, in the Sun Belt.

Unfortunately most Arkansas kids are so brainwashed, they'd never come back to UALR. Few exceptions. Brandon Patterson, Mike Smith and Solo come to mind. And they had good careers here. Mike unfortunately suffered a bad injury and didn't get to accomplish what he would have had he stayed healthy. But it's sad we can't get those kids to come back even when they leave the teams they originally signed with.04-cheers

We've done okay getting "retreads" to come here in the past. Need a few more to go that route. I think Harris would have done very well here. Just doesn't have the size or skills to be a major factor against the athletes on other SEC teams.
