WV beat a Georgia team fresh from destroying LSU. :Louisville would have been the BE champion that year if the changes would have gone through. That was a lame year for BE without VT and Miami and without the three additions.
Dude im done with you, the facts are that you are here just to slam the Big East and USF.
Go gloat on an SEC board if that who you root for. The fact that you are on this board arguieng this means that the Big East does matter to you.

That Georgia team had also lost to 5 win Tennessee and to Auburn as well. Clearly, while they were a deserving SEC champ, they were hardly world-beaters, as evidenced by their #7 BCS ranking going in.

Every year without Miami and VT has been a lame year.

This lame conference will keep counting its BCS $$$s 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana. And one of its members will eventually play for all the marbles 04-rock. Then you can sit and sulk some more 03-hissyfit.

situation and inclusion

What 'situation'? Pitt won the BE by beating up on our Bulls, iirc. Then got cold-cocked by Utah. In contrast, WVU eeked by Georgia, a team that had lost two games in the conference.

The BE is indeed stronger than the MWC, but it's not nearly strong enough to merit inclusion in a group with the Big 10, SEC, Big 12, etc.
What situation? If you have to ask that, then you have no clue what you're talking about, and you need to just shut your fat blabbering trap.

The Big East was in flux when Pitt came out on top of a FOUR-WAY TIEBREAKER to get to a BCS bowl. Boston College and Temple were in their last year in the conference - which only had seven teams then - while Louisville, Cincinnati, and South Florida had not arrived yet. The Pitt team that lost to Utah represented a ONE-YEAR TEMPORARY Big East alignment caused by the money grubbing raid.

What makes you an expert on what the Big East deserves? The BCS - the guys who write the checks - say that we merit inclusion so shut up!

Georgia had lost to two SEC teams already, including lowly Tennessee. Still, WVU eeked by them by 3 pts. In contrast, Utah beat BE champ Pitt by what, 20 pts?

The MWC-Utah example shows that the worthiness of a conference for a BCS bid can't hinge on just how its champ does in a BCS bowl. You have to look at overall field-strength (last year, the BE was terrible vs. other BCS conferences and then went 1-3 in bowls) and revenue-generation (big east has 0 teams in top 30 in fan attendance). By either measure, the BE doesn't stack up ...

Hello Mr. Troll how are you today? And the MWC sucks, but of course you're a MWC fan I guess. Bottomline, the Big East has a BCS bid, Top 25 teams, and TV contracts so you can whine and b*tch all you want, just bend over and take it troll. Just bend over and take it. No body cares about the Pitt-Utah game anymore! Your poor Georgia team got their @sses handed to them. So sad. lmfao The year Utah went to the Fiesta Bowl 6 of the 8 teams in the MWC were under .500 so your comparison shows how stupid you are. The Big East had half their conference going to a bowl game and 2 Top 20 teams. The MWC hasn't had more then one team finished ranked in the Top 25 of the BCS. lmfao

You made a mistake, you mean your Golden Knights, and they didn't play Pitt. West Virginia beat Georgia, deal with it. Georgia was a Top 10 team.

The BE is indeed stronger than the MWC, but it's not nearly strong enough to merit inclusion in a group with the Big 10, SEC, Big 12, etc.

There are 6 power conferences, the Big East is one of them. Sucks for you loser! lmfao

FYI...believe this person was talking about Pitt's game vs USF in Tampa from 2004...when Pitt won 43-14. However, since it was a non-conf game that year...that game didn't effect Big East Standings, when Pitt tied for the Big East Title that year (i.e. non-conf games do not count in Conference Standings)...and played in the Fiesta Bowl vs Utah.

Bottom line...believe its many teams & conferences goal to be ranked in the Top 6 BCS Conferences, with the key letters being B-C-S.

Doesn't matter if one conference is ranked #1 or #6...since they BOTH are BCS Conferences.

Re: changing questions when losing arguments

Hummell Wrote:Lolly Pop, are you saying that USF has landed the quality of recruits that were going to Miami? They may have signed up one more player, but the quality is a serious downgrade and is mostly comprised of filler players (as evidenced by their ratings in the top 100). They are IN the state of Florida...they should land some recruits from their home state. The recruits they are landing (especially the ones who actually qualified) are no where near the level of what was going to Miami.
You can't change the question because you're losing the argument. Your question was how addding USF affected the number of recruits going to the other 7 Big East teams. Now that we have proven the number has stayed the same as when Miami was here, you want to change the question to quality, trying to claim that the recruits we're getting suck compared to what we got before. You lost the argument. Give it up. A #50 football player in Florida is better than a #1 football player in North Carolina.

Do you think that the Big East teams (minus USF) would've landed less recruits from the state of Florida if USF had not been added to the league? lmfao You can't be serious.

why on earth would a kid from miami be more likely to go to rutgers because USF is in the league than if they weren't? sheesh. 04-chairshot

A better question would be, why would the fan of another program pretend to be a South Florida fan just to slander South Florida and the Big East? I think you can answer that question. . .

I LOVE these OLD threads, The reason why a kid from Miami would want to go to Rutgers is because Greg Schiano has strong recruiting ties to South Florida.

Funny, a few months later the Rutgers coach turned down Miami and the Scarlet Knights are making even stronger inroads in South Florida.

Big East, 3 teams ranked in the Final BCS Top 16. That is what makes the Big East more then worthy of BCS inclusion.

To get back on track a bit, any lost Florida exposure could be attributed to the difference in USF's nat. exposure compared to UM but it could also be attributed to the loss of a FL bowl game in Orlando and part of Gator Bowl as well.

One thing about USF over UM is I believe it is of better assistance with the whole state of FL recruiting. It's not an 8 hr drive to Tampa from the panhandle or 6 from Jax unlike UM. So if a kid chooses a BE school, a kid's family will like the idea of coming to watch thier kid twice in four seasons play at Raymond James Stadium, the NFL's No. 1 player rated stadium. Plus, the 4A and 5A FL state FB champions have been coming out of the extended Tampa Bay (Seffner, Lakeland & Tampa schools) area the last 3 of 4 seasons showing that the TB area is jsut as rich with talent as Miami-Dade & Broward Counties.
