New head strength coach...
Saw this on twitter...

FootballScoop Staff ‏@footballscoop 6m
Former Auburn head strength coach (under Chizik) Kevin Yoxall is the new head strength coach at Rice

Is this the 3rd in 3 years?

Is this a good or a bad thing? Football players/insiders, the fans want to know.

RE: New head strength coach...
From what I've heard about both men I think it's good. Our new guy was at Auburn for years until a coaching change.

The previous guy was very well liked, but he left because of Ranger Rick. Too bad he didn't stick it out a little longer.....

As long as our players don't get injured with the regularity they did in 2012, I'm good with any hire

I wouldn't be surprised if Dr.K had a voice and a role in this hire. Though predominantly for football, the strength/conditioning coach is frequently used by the other sports programs, as well...and he can make a HUGE difference in player development (along with avoiding injury). I know at Stanford, their long-time strength coach is given significant credit for helping to rebuild the Cardinal football program.

Coach K wasn't just liked by the players, they loved him. It is a shame that we couldn't get Coach K back. But this guy could be a homerun hire if we are trying to get to the next level. Given his pedigree, he might be overkill for CUSA, but just the type of S&C coach we would hire to get our guys physically ready to compete in the Big XII. But that is just speculative at best.

"New head strength coach..."

Duh. Silly me.
I was wondering if we are now coaching "head strength".

That's a pretty flattering article. Written by a former player. Giving the good and the bad.
'Hate to lose Coach K, but this guy sounds like the real deal.
And having an SEC coach with National Championship background coming to our program is a good thing.

Coach Jared Kaaiohelo. He was hired in 2009. He name is hard to spell and pronounce...hence, Coach K.

Absolutely great read. Also, the comments were interesting as well.

So did some more digging and apparently, Coach Bailiff didn't have to look far to find Coach Yoxall.

Yes, he *left*. He left just before the 2013 season because of Greenspan.

I think this is a great hire; I wasn't sold on Coach K, who appeared to be more interested in endurance at the expense of power (IMO). My impression is that we had a inordinate number of injuries under Coach K, too. He was a fiery, enthusiastic guy tho, so I can see why the players liked him.

Bailiff likes to hire Texas coaches now so that they won't be tempted to 'go back home' like Yancy McKnight did (who was fantastic). I'm pumped !

I wouldn't call late May "right before the 2013 season".

Why he left, I have no idea. Doesn't look like he was hired by another university.

Sorry my bad. I remembered that it was during summer conditioning when the word got out. It was posted that he left because Greenspan would not give him a raise, I just can't find the post.
