In College Football, Big Paydays for Humiliation
By PETE THAMEL

The University at Buffalo football team went 1-10 last season and did not score a touchdown until the fourth game. For nearly a decade, it has been considered one of the worst teams in college football.

Buffalo is just the kind of opponent some of the nation

Man, Buffalo is even more bush league than I thought. They are in such shambles that the conference picks opponents for them, pays their past due bills (or says they will)....talk about pitiful.

People say that there shouldn't be an attendance requirement to stay I-A. They are against a direct removal to I-AA, but when you draw peanuts to watch your pitiful team, it's close enough to forced removal. I'd support a rule where if you can't pay your own broken contracts, it's an automatic see you in I-AA. Buffalo can be the 1st punished.

[quote]Despite being rejected by Buffalo this year, Rutgers is not seeking the $225,000 it is owed for the broken contract. Instead, Robert E. Mulcahy III, the athletic director at Rutgers, said he was trusting that Buffalo would follow through on a verbal agreement to play in 2007. (Buffalo is, however, asking for $25,000 more than this season

According to Tigershark2, Buffalo is a much better BE prospect than any "C-USA leftovers". Of course, hs Alma Mater, Villanova is first choice.

No, it is one of your own cusa members that keep making remarks about Buffalo being the best candidate for BE expansion.
