I was just curious if she made a different career move by choice. I know former teachers that have gone into other things, not just because the jobs are scarce...but because the profession wasn't what they thought it would be.

No, BBF brought it up when he talked about how teachers weren't paid for that night they spent at school. I was just pointing out the irony of his post about 5 people being missing when his initial thought was about teachers getting compensated for this extra work.

Go **** yourself. Seriously, why even comment here? You just have to throw in your two cents in every ******* thread regardless of if you have something relevant to say or not. If you don't care about what's posted in the thread, just ignore it like most normal people do.
Damn, I read this as MB defending you. Maybe I read it wrong.

When exactly is it "appropriate" to mention that of all the public employees who worked overtime during the recent storm, ALL OTHERS (police, fire fighters, National Guardsmen, etc.) were getting paid, perhaps time and a half for overtime. Public school teachers, on the other hand, went "off payroll" when schools closed Tuesday and will not return to "on payroll" until schools reopen Monday morning. If the days are not "made up" later, they will face being cut three days pay (Wed, Thurs, Fri) by their districts at some point in a future pay check whether they were at school or not.
Teachers in Alabama are paid "per diem" - any day not worked with schools "open" or a day with schools officially "closed", there is no pay for that day. There are already 81 such week days in every year. Three more day's pay cut out of some future check will not be welcomed.
