UTEP in 2012 was the first thing that popped into my mind, but the argument could be made that UTEP and Xavier are both "meh" losses rather than outright bad/embarrassing ones.

RE: When was the last truly "BAD" loss?
Good post - good info.

I would consider our team when evaluating a bad loss.

We didn't have a good team in '09-'10 - the data is pretty clear. In '10-'11 we had an almost all freshman rotation. Plus, we were really thin upfront both years. We didn't have the horses so I don't consider those 'bad losses' in those years.

Michigan St last year. OSU this year. We just didn't compete very hard.

2009-10 SMU. RPI - 208

Of the 7 losses to over 100 RPI teams, 4 were during Pastner's first year and 6 were during his first 2 years. Only 2 really bad (as far as who we lost to) losses were at home.

We finished 2012-2013 with a record of 31-5. Of the 5 losses, the worst was probably vs. Minnesota (an NCAA team) on a neutral floor or at Xavier. Though both were upsets, neither was a "BAD" loss in retrospect. Other losses were to VCU, Louisville (eventual champ) and Michigan State. All disappointing, but not bad losses.

I think you have to go all the way back to 2/18/12 vs. UTEP at home to find what can truly be called a "BAD" loss. If I recall correctly it was after that game that Pastner took the names off the jerseys. That's a pretty good thing to go 2 full years without a bad loss.

I'd say the losses to ECU & Rice were our "BAD" losses.
Absolutely no excuse whatsoever.

UTEP under Barbee & then Floyd have given Memphis fits for years now in the regular season.
One team I am glad to not see any longer.

When was the last truly "BAD" loss?
Interesting thread. We don't have a lot of bad losses with Pastner, but the good wins were limited. In part, that was due to limited opportunities and the losses killed our RPI.
