Had such fine visions of a 10 deep lineup pressing like mad every second of the game.

Still.... That's not even close to an ungodly expectation. Ungodly expectations are to go undefeated, blow every team out by 40, and have 8 players drafted in the top 10.

I heard from a poster that will remain nameless, that he would step on the court for us this season and automatically be our best player.

There will be goobers that do this every season, but it's wise to wait til you see a new player actually play a few D1 games before you start to formulate an opinion on how they'll do for the season.

Yes, and we heard it from the media that he would be our best guard and so on. Expectations are expectations. Some may expect little and some are going to expect a lot. No one is going to be the same.

If we all expected him to completely 100% suck then we'd all be happy right now. If we all expected him to be the best player in college basketball we'd all be pissed and wondering why he was on the time at all right now.

People will be different. However, if you're going to use the term ungodly, I wanna see the post stating he was gonna come in and average 60 PPG, 20 APG, 15 RPG, 10 SPG, 8 BPG and 0 turnovers the entire season. Then go #1 in the NBA Draft. If it isn't on par with that then it is not ungodly.

Word to the wise: keep your expectations reasonable, in basketball and in life. You'll be a happier man.

That's why no one will remember your name.

The irony of this post from an anonymous messageboard poster is awesome. Thanks for making my Saturday.

LOL it was a quote from the movie Troy and it was very fitting for your comment 03-razz.

I was just goofin'. I understand that people's expectations differ. I've never been upset with a player when I expected too little from him though.

Its because of the new rules. If he and geron were under the old rules then their aggressive style defense would benefit them even more. The new rules are meant to help the offensive player not the defensive player

I think his defense has been much better as of late.

He is getting better and better as the season progresses.

I think that Austin's defense has gotten much better as well

It really has

I agree. He appears more confident and a little more agressive. He will be a good player by March. I just wish CJP would let him play through his mistakes, instead of benching him.
As for Dixon, I feel he is not as reckless as of late. The team feeds off of each other, and when he gets reckless, it changes the dynamics. And they start the streetball type playing.

I agree that he is settling into the team and playing better.

It's a shame that the new rules started this year. Can you imagine how much better our defense would be if they were still allowing the guards to play physical defense?

I wish our guards would take better advantage of the new rules while on offense. It seems like someone with Jackson's quickness and skills could draw a foul on opposing guards on almost any possession.

Free Throws
Joe Jackson
103 in 597 minutes

Geron/Dixon/Crawford
116 in 1,490 minutes

JJ is shooting 1 more shot per game and 1 more free throw per game. He is doing his job; breaking down defenses, getting to the rim and getting to the line.

In all the video I saw on Dixon, I never felt that he was great at driving the ball, and said so from the beginning. Geron is more of a finisher, rather that someone is going to break down defenses, and Crawford has shot 17 free throws in 537 minutes of basketball.

On the surface, we have 4 guards and the rules should favour us. The reality is that 3 of our guards are physical on the defensive end, and 3 of our guards are not going to break down defenses on the offensive end.

The one thing that favours us is that we have depth at guard. Given the fact that we play 3 guards most of the time, that depth is all but negated.

Joe tries to draw fouls more than his teammates. My favorite one is when he's running up the court with a defender behind him and just stops. The player runs him over and a foul is called. Crawford pretty much only shoots 3's so he's not going to get fouled much. Geron probably should get to the line more.

Nearly a third of Jackson's points come from FTs. He gets to the line plenty.
