This could be Nobel worthy. I've read some speculation on it's impact on biology, but I haven't been convinced the authors fully understand everything. Anyway, it's pretty interesting, and the amazing amount of information coded in here adds even more credence to ID theory.

RE: Big news in world of genetics
I remember reading this when it came out, if it does show to cause enough differences in gene expression then yeah, it could be a fairly large breakthrough.

What is "gene control?"

I googled it and found mostly bull****.

RE: Big news in world of genetics
The way it's used in this article just means the researchers have found a second way in which the genome controls which genes are expressed. It's not really a scientific term that's commonly used though, and the stuff you found is probably preying on people who are googling for genetically modified food information, and almost everything about that issue is complete bunk psuedoscience.

You'd be better off reading about gene expression really.

It's basically saying they think they might have found a second code within DNA, which might influence how our DNA is expressed.

Gene expression is a vast area for study. It's nature and nurture and genetics and genomics and prevention and treatment and everything all rolled together.

We'll all be X-Men* by the end of the 21st C.

They figured you aren't human? Took them long enough. I have known this ever since I read your first post.

If we were designed by god in his image, then blood supply alone shows he was quite fond of our intellect.

Yes, it's not particularly shocking or groundbreaking. We've known for decades that DNA codes for RNA and subsequent protein synthesis, and we've known for decades that the sequence of DNA specifies the regulation of how its bundled and the aforementioned processes are regulated. So it's of little surprise that some DNA sequences are involved in both.
