RE: Anyone coming to Newbern
No ones coming up to watch the games ? Some being played in Memphis and on tv also . Here's the schedule :

One of the signature events on the area high school basketball calendar, the American Residential Services Penny Hardaway Hoopfest, takes place Friday and Saturday.

For those of you planning on making the drive to Dyer County High (and even for those staying to watch the Hoopfest games here in town), here's what you need to know.

It's going to cost more than a normal high school hoops night out: And it probably should. Ticket prices for the Dyer County sessions Friday and Saturday are $15, more than double the normal price for a high school game. But in fairness, that price will allow fans to see to see three games on Friday and another six on Saturday, featuring some of the very best high school teams and players not only locally, but from around the nation. Look it at like this: It will be cheaper than the cost of two movie tickets. And probably a whole lot more entertaining.

You don't have to drive to Dyer County to check out some of the Hoopfest action: There will be four games in town on Saturday that are part of the event. At Southwind, Ridgeway will take on ECS at 2 p.m. followed by Southwind and Chicago Whitney Young at 3:30. The action continues at Houston with Mitchell squaring off against Jackson Southside at 6 followed by the host school taking on perennial prep school powerhouse Oak Hill (Va.) at 7:30. Tickets for games at both of those sites are $10.

You can see history (maybe): Hoopfest organizers have billed Saturday's 4 p.m. White Station-Hamilton game on ESPNU as the first time a game featuring two Memphis teams will be nationally televised. But older fans will remember back to the late 1980s when a Penny Hardaway-led Treadwell team took on Terry Alexander and Oakhaven in a game that was broadcast on SportsChannel.

It's safe to see that ESPNU reaches more homes than SportsChannel did over 25 years ago, so White Station-Hamilton will definitely be a big event. And remember, if you can't watch the Spartans and Wildcats in person or on the tube, you have another chance Monday when the District 16-AAA rivals face off at Hamilton.

Sunrise Christian (Kan.) and Arlington (Fla.) Country Day will also play a televised game on Saturday, tipping off at 2 p.m.

You can see the best high school player in the class of 2014: That of course would be Whitney Young's 6-10, 270-pounder Jahlil Okafor. The Duke signee has a bit of a connection with the Jaguars; he waged a memorable battle with former Southwind star Johnathan Williams, now a freshman at Missouri, during the Nike Peach Jam a couple of summers ago.

You can see the best-named player in the class of 2014 (and maybe ever): That of course would be Sunrise Christian point guard Lourawls "Tum Tum" Nairn. The 5-10 Michigan State signee, a native of the Bahamas, is named after legendary soul singer Lou Rawls, who had a string of hits in the 1960s and 1970s, most notably "You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)."

The "Tum Tum" nickname comes from the name of a character in the movie "3 Ninjas," who was more fond of eating than ninja-ing.

"When I was little I used to eat everything," Nairn told NBCSports.com last year. "So they called me Tum Tum."

You'll get to see some of tomorrow's college basketball stars today: Here is a list of some of the players from out of town appearing at the Hoopfest who have either signed or committed to play major college basketball.

Arlington (Fla.) Country Day: Dante Buford (Oklahoma); Brandone Francis (Florida); Nate Mason (Minnesota).

Chicago Simeon: Donte Ingram (Loyola-Chicago); Zach Norvell (recruited by Memphis, Duke, Illinois, North Carolina and Indiana among others); D.J. Williams (Illinois commitment).

Chicago Whitney Young: Jahlil Okafor (Duke); Miles Reynolds (Saint Louis); Paul White (Georgetown).

Oak Hill (Va.) Academy: Caleb Martin (North Carolina State); Cody Martin (North Carolina State); B.J. Stith (Virginia); Kem Ubaru (North Carolina-Asheville).

St. Benedict's (N.J.): Norberto Gigas (Florida State); Jon Williams (Virginia Commonwealth).

Sunrise Christian (Kan.): Nathan Bain (Colorado State); Zach Brown (Wichita State); Ruben Guerrero (Gonzaga); Lourawls Nairn (Michigan State); Keanu Pinder (Nebraska); Dusan Ristic (Arizona).
