I had a coaching friend call me. He indicated that Kenny Edenfield was being considered for OC. Thoughts? Anyone else heard anything else?

He's currently at Troy. Would we have to overpay to get him? Seems we could do a little better if there's that type of money to spend.

His offenses have usually ranked pretty high a T Roy though.

But, if the rumors are true that Blakeney is retiring soon, he may be looking for longer term stability. Just a thought, if true. & he only makes 114k, much less than our last assistants.

Edenfield made $116,699 last year at Troy.

No knowledge, just mentioning names.

Also the OC at USA might be an option.

T Roy was 13th in passing offense last season. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/25
90th rushing http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/23
27th overall.

Troy scored 36 vs conference, per game. The second highest in conference was 31 per game. Four or five teams hovered around 30/31 per game. Troy was significantly better on offense than the rest of the league, which is similar to CUSA.

The caveat is we have been running that offense for 8 years and have ranked in the Top 25 most of the time. He might need more time at UAB. Edenfield walked into a group of kids and offensive coaches that had been successful for a long, long time.

I don't know if he's going to UAB. We haven't heard anything, and all I have is a rumor on this board. Any more information would be appreciated.

RE: OC candidate
I heard a rumor (maybe just specualtion) that we may go after USA's OC. I read about him, and he seems pretty good, but I don't know much about him or his relationship with Clark.

Robert Matthews. He was with USM when they were good and was QB coach at Oklahoma State before then.

Hopefully we will get someone that picks a type of offense and sticks with it...

I hope we run an up-tempo offense that cheats the opposing defenses.

I'd be in favor of that if I felt our defense was good enough to stop someone. I want a slower tempo run the ball first then throw it when the safeties cheat up. If we can quickly turn the defense around (Clark should make fast improvements) then I'm all for a hurry up.

Howard has too much talent for us to throw the ball a lot. We also have a good o-line returning.

Well, we will have three backs in Howard, Coles, Duckworth that we could use to beat up the defense. If we cant stop the opposing offense right now. Than we should strive to score a td every drive rather than being ok with a 6 minute drive resulting in 3 points. At least this time we will have someone who knows how to call a game. Hopefully....

Edenfield ran Troys offense with 2 qbs. Robinson and Anthony.

There is a slim to none chance that Edenfield is coming to UAB.........I will leave it at that. He is a good OC though.
