All this being said, with our sand bagging our expectations without Jackson ...

If somehow UC pulls it off without him , it will be an incredible win for the team , its psyche and the fan base . If Mick can work his magic and Kilpatrick is on fire and everyone else plays solid smart basketball we might have a chance.

Didnt UC say they are cautiously optimistic JJ will play?? That probably means that the injury is nothing

Dan Hoard tweeted something along those lines Sunday night or Monday morning. But Mick went on his radio show last night and said they won't play him if it would jeopardize his career or UC's season. Of course Justin also tweeted last night a pic of him rehabbing with the hashtag #ready.

Ultimately I don't think any of that talk means anything. We aren't going to get an answer about this until Thursday night. Everything else will simply be speculation.

Mick is playing the game for Louisville's benefit.

No one will probably know for sure til thursday afternoon. Mick and JJ probably have a good idea now which way its going

Mick was just on ESPNU right now for a quick interview with Andy Katz:

Lawrence will definitely not play. He has started doing some light jogging, but he is probably couple of weeks away.

They will know more on Jackson on Wednesday. He wants to play but if he is experiencing any pain he won't risk it.

Mick would like to keep the Louisville series going, whether it be as non-conference opponents or in multi-team events. Louisville has a lot of commitments so who knows if that'll happen.

Everything else is the same type of stuff you've heard from Mick throughout the season.

A multi-team event could be very interesting. Even a two game double-header in Cincinnati or Louisville that features local schools would be awesome.

I don't think its much of a surprise at this point, but Mick just texted the entire college basketball writing community to announce that JJ will play tonight.

I do hope UC wins tonight, but if the only two games they lose in the rest of the regular season are games at UL and at UConn then UC ends the regular season 27-4, which far exceed anybody's expectations. I think we can all live with that. GO CATS.

really excited for this game but don't feel too much pressure or nerves about it. If we win, fantastic. We're really in the catbird seat then. But if we lose, we are the underdog in this one and we'd still be right there in the title race and having a second chance at them at home. Hopefully our guys go in this one loose and ready to play. No need to come out tight or feel a ton of pressure.

We have struggled against teams with multiple bigs. We do well against teams that lack strong frontcourt players. UL has very little in the frontcourt.

With JJ, Louisville has to put the ball on the floor and rely on jump shooters to beat us. Their team shooting is decent, but not great.

Another factor to consider - as Rath pointed out UL was red hot in the last few games beating the snot out of UCONN, Houston and USF - but it will have been over a week since their last game (1/22). Hard to keep momentum and fire over 8 days of mundane practices.

And walk out with a win WE DID!!!

BTW wanted to reference another post regarding the head to head with Mick and Rick.

Looks like they are now tied at 5-5.

Which if you think about it is CRAZY. This covers our bottom up rebuilding phase - consider the talent difference Mick had in the first 3-4 years of this series!

That win in the 07 season is still mind boggling to me.
