RE: OT: Say Hello to 7-A
How many of the 389 high schools listed by Blazerjay in the seven classes are private academies / schools? In what ways can they make their own rules (since many or most of them are church related) concerning state football competitions?

RE: OT: Say Hello to 7-A
There is another classification for private schools that some Christian schools are a member of. They set their own schedules, rules, etc.
Some may include 8 man teams. Gardendale Tabernacle comes to mind.
There still are other schools like Briarwood that are a part of the 7 divisions.
In the past, since they can someone bring in players from outside of the area, their enrollment is counts as 1 1/2 times the actual enrollment. Briarwood has been in 5A in recent history, however the enrollment was actually like a 4A or lower school.
I don't have a list in front of me, but I would suspect that the majority of other schools that compete in the AHSAA divisions are 1A or 2A.
