RE: Interesting article by Jason Smith about Josh and the 4 guards

As soon as he drew the defenders and 1 step inside of the 3pt line he passed to Daniels for the 3 (who had spotted up when Napier got the ball). No way was Napier trying to drive unless our 3 defenders just vanished into thin air. It was a play to hit the spot up shooter.
My conclusion: Teams will get what the defense allows…
A) When we went with 4 guards UCONN attacked the paint and scored on 3 straight possessions.
B) When we added another big UCONN settled for 2 jumpers and made them both.
So nice try yourself. I have HD TV’s & DVR’s too.
BTW, this is how I interpreted the last 5 minutes of the game and I spent a lot of time yesterday & today using freeze-frame & slow-motion.
Enough of this. I'm tired of watching us lose over and over again.
I hate to break your heart, BST, but were gonna lose another one before the season is over.
Yea, I told you 3-5. May have to revise this after last night.

What happened last night?
1. We gave Iverson, King, and Woodson some nice PT with the game still on the line. This is a confidence builder not only for them but the entire team. Wilson got a few too.
2. We played 2 bigs the entire game and fed them. This provides more balanced scoring and takes some of the pressure off of the guards. It also keeps opponent’s defense honest.
Those few things are what I’ve been looking for and if we continue (when we can) we should be ready not only for the AAC tourney, but the NCAA as well.

We played well last night. Not sure the game was ever "on the line", but I'm glad the young guys got PT.

They came in in the first half and I was surprised. In the second half we had a big lead but the game was still ongoing.
Anyway they got nice PT and we won going away.

He’s going up for the shot. Where are his feet? Looks like he’s in the paint to me. Dixon was in front of him but slid around going for the steal. Shaq came out late because he was fighting Nolan…
Stammers Wrote:He was past the foul line, not 1 foot inside the 3 point line. Maybe your freeze framer and slow motioners are busted. Also, shooting a 12' fadeaway over the outstretched arm of a defender and shooting a 3 pointer are not considered to be attacking the rim.
Maybe on whatever planet you're on, but not this one.
Past the foul line, eh? All the defenders are where I said they were. And where is Napier’s foot? Just inside the 3pt line like I said. The pass to a wide open Daniels is already in the air in these shots. You can see the ball on the second pic...
It appears YOU are the one on another planet.
UConn Possessions BEFORE The 4 Guard Lineup
13:42 - 2 points
13:10 - 2 points
12:36 - 2 points
11:57 - 0 points, turnover (created by guard)
9:16 - 2 points
8:21 - 2 points
7:43 - 0 points, missed 3 pointer, defended by guard
6:58 - 1 point
5:03 - 2 points
5:36 - 0 points, turnover (created by guard)
UConn Possessions AFTER The 4 Guard Lineup
2:11 - 3 points
1:26 - 2 points
UConn went a stretch where they scored on 9 out of 12 possessions, and you want to blame the 4 guard offense for us losing the game? Have another drink.

Dixon, Pellom, King, and Iverson came in at about 13:20 in the first half. The score was 16-13 tigers (3pt lead). At this point it was still anybody’s game and any team can overcome a 3pt lead.
When the starters returned the lead had increased 24-17 tigers (7pts).

I'm not convinced that there was much we could do to lose that game. It'd be more telling if we were up by 3 with 13 to go in the second half and the young guys went in.
Regardless, they got some good burn last night.

Yes, still anybody's game...against Houston. Righto. Tell us again the cool story about how Pastner ruined Tarik Black and how Bill Self was going to turn him into a superstar. That's almost as good as these two.

You never know. They won @UCONN and lost @Cinncy by only 1 point, and we lost @home to both of those teams. They’re a 3pt shooting team and when they’re on they are a tough out. I also remember the last time they defeated us.
But I’m like you and glad they got some good burn.

Napier was past the foul line extended; but I was at work so I'll half give you that one, but he was obviously going to the rim.
A 12' fadeaway with a guard draped all over him, when a player's foot is near the line, is not points in the paint.
In any event; the 4 guard offense had nothing to do with anything, except possibly Kromah's drive to the middle.

So the game was in the balance with a 3 point lead and 33 minutes left?
