It was intended the way you took it.

Don't insult the Commonwealth. We have a long and storied history of being quite great.

Even today, Virginia is important electorally, economically, and militarily.

........and no other states can make that claim? As you can tell - it was said tongue in cheek. I know American history, I'm well aware of Virginia's contributions. I will say that Virginia's place nationally was more prominent earlier in our country's history.

Now, it's mostly just a backwoods redneck haven..................(just couldn't resist)

I'll give you southwester VA, but that's about it. I mean, NOVA is about antiredneck as it gets.

I'm sure there are exceptions but I was just going on voting record, etc.

VA wants it's own currency. That's a really wise idea, whomever has been googling the heck out of it.

As far as being rednecks... At bare minimum half of the state is still as redneck as it gets. From Richmond to Bristol, Danville to Charlottesville.

As far as importance, Congressman Goodlatte is Judiciary Chair and almost every House committee has a VA rep. Almost every one of our governors has been RNC or DNC chair. There's a dozen billionaires in VA. I could go on.

Just so you know. the more refined folks would probably view me as a redneck and my state is at least 50% that way if not more. Historically, we never used the term redneck though - Hilljack was our term of endearment. Of course, I grew up in the hills.

I'm reminded of one kid we used to have in school, who had Tourettes. We were doing a project on the founding constitutions of the 13 original colonies. When we got to Virginia, he just yelled "Virginia licks buttholes!"

For a guy who blurted nonsense, he sure told the gospel truth there.

Come down to Hampton Roads! We're not your typical backwoods Virginia - quite a diverse place actually (although we do have a lot of rednecks here).

I actually like Virginia - great history and I like historical stuff.

Did Al Gore forget to bring the Internet to South Dakota, Iowa, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut?

The result for Kentucky is entirely believable. I've met too many people in this state who think government's primary responsibility is to give them stuff.
