Ohio and Pitt was a smash hit in the ratings last year. Shattered the ratings for espn2 Friday nite game. Under the right situation, the Friday games can work. For Ohio, they offered the three local high schools and their fans, a triple header in Peden Stadium the next day. That let the locals go to the Friday nite college game and then see three games the next day. Having the perfect result being the greatest win in school history and setting an attendance record that nite too. Bobcats got player of the week and had the most impressive MAC OOC from that game. Had that game been on Saturday with no TV and a less electric crowd torn between staying home and watching Ohio State and recovering from a hangover, Pitt most likely isn't rattled and wins that game.

If when you say "TV audience" you are talking about the # of people watching TV in general maybe you are right. If we're talking the # of people watching ESPN football, it's not even close. Thursday night games slaughter every other non-Saturday games in ratings.

I'd like to see those numbers.
