Lost to UNC in 2004, they were 6-6.
Louisville lost to USF in 2005, they were 6-6.
Louisville lost to TCU in 2004, they were 5-6.
And 2001, TCU was 6-6.
Tech lost to Duke in 2003, they were 4-8. Duke had just fired their coach.
Come up with something better, Wilkie. Face it. You are wrong. Your problem is that you cannot accept that Louisville is not a powerhouse, and that they play in probably the 5th or 6th best conference.
Shouldn't you be worrying about USF right now? After all, they are set to ruin your season again.
WRONG, in 2004 Louisville crushed TCU 55-28. Try again.
Oh..my mistake. I misread something. Sorry. But that still doesn't explain losing to a 6-6 team, which Wilkie wants to point out at Tech fans in reference to UNC and Duke.

Lost to USF for a couple of simple reasons, USF wanted it more and UofL was too busy reading it press clippings about going to the Rose Bowl last year. Stuff happens.

So you would agree that it is similar to Tech? I mean..we were coming off a miracle win @ Clemson (we were down by 10 with 2:30 minutes left, Clemson fumbled with 13 seconds left, we scored on the next play to win the game), had all the press, top 25 team, then we lost to UNC.
Against Duke, we were coming off a 7-3 win against Maryland which was a great game, and a big win. Duke had just fired it's coach, and they wanted it more than we did.
My point is, Wilkie can't sit there and say that Tech is like UNC and Duke. We lost once to each in recent years...just like UL has lost to USF and TCU when they were both in down years. Stuff happens, right?

The only difference is this, USF and TCU are much better then Puke. UNC I can see because they have some athletes-(Even though they are soft) but Duke you must agree for GT to lose to them is inexcusable.

Inexcusable, but the same as getting killed by USF. It evens out. Duke was 4-8 that year. Look at it this way: Tech lost to 2 teams that were pitiful. Same for UL. A loss is a loss.

Well the coach that lost to TCU is not Petrino, USF went to a Bowl and competed even though they loss. Puke was just bad.

A loss...is a loss. All 4 losses were "just bad".

Most of those losses were by GT.
2001 Louisville lost to TCU. John L. Smith was the coach and the same thing at Michigan State, losses to schools he should not lose to but beat teams he shouldn't. That is his M.O.
2005, 2nd head scratching Petrino loss. The only was our only home loss in the Petrino era losing to Memphis 37-7. Both Louisville and Memphis were 9-4 that year. Also during the Petrino era Louisville NEVER loss to a tam with a losing record, Chan Gailey can't say the same.

this thread is gay......who the frick cares how good Gtech is or not.
I'll stick to the origonal issue: GTech is not afraid to play UofL. For whatever reason they decided to play Miss St. (prob. to give them a BCS opponent they could pound from the $EC). But they are not afraid to play UofL.
Other than that, who cares about Gtech and the ACC and who they play and don't play and what Duke's football record is over the last ten years.....geesh people.

Gailey has done the same thing that Smith did. I'm not here to compare Petrino and Gailey. I'm here because Wilkie can't accept the fact that Tech is much better than we wants to think, that Tech is not afraid to play UL, and that UL plays a weak schedule in the weak BigEast.. oh yeah, and Tech has been every bit as good as UL in the past 10 seasons.
And "most of the losses"?
We're talking about 4 games here.
UL:
TCU
USF
GT:
UNC
Duke
Seems to me like it's 2-2.

Past 10 years sure, that includes the Ron Cooper era. Now if you want to talk about this decade then no. Even in our pathetic 2002 year we still beat the ACC Champs and we were still in a Non BCS League.
As for the weak Big East, the ACC needs to do something that they haven't done this Century and that is win BCS Bowl game and stop sending 4 loss teams to the BCS. You make the other BCS leagues look bad. ;-)

For the most part, but there was a truckload of back stories in that game. Namely, Ted Roof, current Duke football coach and former "black watch" linebacker and defensive coordinator at GT.
Basically, when O'Leary left, Gailey told Roof he could step down to LB coach or he wouldn't have a job. Roof then went to be DC for Duke. Roof can coach the hell out of linebackers... but he blows as a DC. Anyway, Roof was named interim head coach for Duke, and he had a gold mine of motivation to do exceedingly well in that game. Couple that with what is possibly Reggie Ball's single worst performance and the worst defensive performance under DC Jon Tenuta... and you have a recipe for utter disaster.

Like I said stuff happens.
As far as our series I wish it could have happened because it would have been fun. But GT has to do what is in their best interest just like WVU, UofL, Pitt and soforth. We did at one time have a great Basketball series but that did not last either. It would have been fun to play our old conference mates once again.

We have won the last 7 of 8 games vs UNC and we have won the last 14 of 16 vs Duke. While you are 3-2 over UNC and 1-0 over Duke all time.
Well, you play them almost every year! lmfao

And there went what little bit of credibility you had left out the window. You are the Bill O'Reilly of the BE board.
He never really had credibility at all, he's like the friend that everyone hates.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
Really? Have I ever said anything quite as stupis as this "And beating Georgia Tech today is like beating Duke and North Carolina. Whoopie doo!"

BC North east football
georgia_tech_swagger Wrote:CatsClaw Wrote:Congratulations, you're barely deeper then a conference you just raided. Yay!
Your opinion is not one shared of by 90%+ of college football fans.
The Big East SHOULD be considerably more shallow than the ACC due to expansion and realignment.
I don't like ACC expansion any more than you (I hate VT, and think BC is an awful geographic fit .... I would be quite happy with Miami, UCF, (Florida/South Carolina).... but it's the facts of life.
You southern boys think we can't play FB in the North but BC once again proved you wrong, the first year in the ACC they dominated the likes of NC , Clemson, NC state and Wake. U Conn destroyed wake and should have beaten NC State a couple of years back.........
It says one thing about the ACC Overated.
The Big East is still stronger even after you took our two best teams.
I hope you pukes druell when they anounce the addition of UCF into the NBE........

Umm, that's nice, but none of those schools are considered traditional
"southern" powers.
NC friggin' State?
Maybe Clemson at one time? lmfao
