RE: UTEP at UAB
Biggest crowd we've had at Bartow for a home game since the visit from North Carolina. Every time UAB and UTEP cross swords, it becomes an unheralded war of attrition except for those fortunate enough to be a witness.

Whose comments? David Crane's?

I don't know his name, but he was the broadcaster over the internet feed. Made comments two or three times about Hunter's shot being "trash" and some other comments that even the people who were watching the game with me, felt that they were a little over the top.

Maybe it was because of the emotion involved in a very good game, I just didn't like them because they were against our players and my school. I guess I better get used to it, because I don't think there will ever be an unexciting game between UTEP and UAB.

6,100+ according to the box score. Pretty good Blazers.

We need more of that around CUSA.

RE: UTEP at UAB
The announcers were on the UAB Sports Network, so it's logical they be extreme homers.. as they should be.

In Teicher's case, I absolutely hate it when his voice get excited when the other team scores. It makes the play harder to follow (on the radio), when he does that.

I also don't care for the way he talks to his co-hosts. Seems to look down on them.

That sure as hell doesn't sound like David Crane. I can't speak for whoever might have been accompanying him at the mics, but, I'd bet against Crane being the culprit in this case. As a Blazers fan, my apologies to Miner Nation for this occurrence. Had this been Memphis, different story. 05-stirthepot I love our battles with UTEP, just would like to come out on the victorious end of most of them.

UAB had won the last three so it was our turn. 03-nerner

There is nothing to apologize for. He was doing his job the way it is supposed to be done.

I didn't hear Crane but maybe the trash comment was regarding the easy buckets UTEP was getting underneath. Those are generally called trash buckets or garbage buckets and not meant to be disrespectful.

But again, he is the UAB announcer and his comments are meant for Blazer fans. However I've never heard Crane go over the top. As to the color commentator, he is the director of basketball operations for the team, and is usually more critical of the blazers than the other team.

I'll have to make sure I have my life insurance premiums paid up then.

UAB has a good hospital and cardiology program. I almost needed to go there tonight.

For the football game, you might need a good gastroenterologist (to control the vomit). Or a proctologist.

This. I'm sure fans of other teams would really dislike Teicher and Yellen. The broadcast is intended for UTEP fans, just as the UAB broadcast is intended for UAB fans. Nothing to apologize for.

I really don't see what the big deal is about an announcer.

I took his reference as a reference to "garbage buckets". A reference often made towards end of the game, or when a game is decided, or when someone is playing clean up when someone else missed the shot.

That last 3 pointer that was taken away because the shot clock had expired was shot from the hip... i.e. it wasn't of good form. That's why it was trash.

It was our color guy that said that btw.

Best of luck the rest of the year blazers. I hope our schools do not play again this season as our men stole this one. I don't imagine the result would be the same in a rematch.

This needs to be one of the marquee series in this league.
