We've been hearing about plans for field house since the stadium deal went under. Is that really going to happen?

Field Turf...$750,000 to 1 Mil depending on site prep.

We dont wonder why he left. Most were happy, we wondered why he destroyed the team and didn't do anything he said he was going to do (WIN) and then left without telling his players bye.

I won't argue that a lot of things related to our football program stinks, but McGee left it stinkier than he found it.

Sure, facilities suck and he's a weasel like his mentor.

Parker High School has a beautiful stadium to play in, as well as a Fieldhouse and separate practice field adjacent to it. Whatever the cost of their facilities, a program like UAB could build and eventually thrive on these modest, but modern amenities. Surely they couldn't be as expensive, more or less, than Parker's.

Did y'all miss this in the article?

A campus wide fundraising initiative was begun in October that includes upgrades for athletic facilities. Brian Mackin, director of athletics, said one project would be a football fieldhouse that would have locker rooms, a state of the art equipment room, a training area, coaches' offices and academic areas. A turf practice field is also proposed.

Fundraising and planning for all this stuff is nice. Building it is another thing.

A few years ago the stadium was a done deal. Forgive us for being skeptics. I'm not getting burnt again.

He's got a point..."Lucy" (BOT) has pulled the football back on "Charlie Brown" (UAB) every time he's tried to kick the damn thing...I fell for the "stadium's a done deal" talk, too, and look what happened.

For all the bally-hoo about fundraising efforts underway and a certain amount to be set aside for facilities, I want to see a comprehensive plan, I wanna see photos like the one of the stadium that "Gorilla" posts here occasionally, I'd want to know where, & what features our players are going to look forward to having & when these projects are actually expected to be implemented or acted upon instead of hearing the same old bull**** about an "announcement is coming soon", simply telling us to "Play Your Part" with a systematically decimated and jaded fan base isn't going to cut it anymore.

Now more than ever, UAB needs to be more transparent with its' fans and supporters about these issues(sure as hell has worked out for the Charlotte Football program), & if no one's willing to do that, especially after all of this BS the football program's been subjected to...Well, hell...

Weasel gone, facilities still suck. Time to let it go with the Weasel and deal with the current issues. I don't even remember McGee now.

Yeah that sounds great. Complete radio silence since then.

It didn't hurt to have a former Parker HS faculty member in the legislature when the funding was being considered. That is why some of the things there are named after him. Perhaps if UAB could get to that point in the state legislature, it would get some of those "goodies" itself. Right now the legislature is following the BOT's line that to be "pro Blazer" is to be "anti Crimson Tide".

Towing the "company line" as expected...Vintage state legislators, what's good for Birmingham is not good for the status quo.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything...

That would make them extremely stupid. I mean, "shouldn't operate motor vehicles or vote" stupid.

It would do that or one might say "Accountability Act Stupid" where they said a student at a "failing school" could transfer, but also said the "successful schools" could refuse any and all transfers without having to explain why.
