Larimer construction thread
All, has anyone seen the folks being moved out in anticipation of construction, any movement of equipment. If we can use this thread for updates, photo's etc that would be great for out of town alums.

RE: Larimar construction thread
I drove past it yesterday...... Nothing has happened on the outside, not even a construction dumpster near the building. From what I could tell, there was still pictures hanging in the first floor hallway as well. Whatever construction is happening... its moving very slowly.

Bids from General Contractors are due, and to be opened this Thursday at 3:00 pm. I've got a set of the site plans and may bid as a site subcontractor. We'll see.

I know start date is set for sometime in February.

Put a bid in. We could use an inside man to keep us updated!

RE: Larimar construction thread
We have been out of the building for a few weeks now. Moved to the GB over break. Players are working out in either the Rec or ROTC building. Nothing is in the Larimer but cords hanging from the ceiling. Tear down starts in early February.

RE: Larimar construction thread
Renovations are needed for the building, but I hate to admit this but I'm sort of underwhelmed in the renderings I saw online. Maybe it was in the way they were drawn, but for some reason I was expecting something different? I'm sure my thoughts will change once the steel starts to go up. On paper, I"m having a hard time visualizing entering from below the scoreboard, if it's still the existing scoreboard? I think others have mentioned that incorporating the scoreboard into the facade improvements would have been cool and I agree. I sort of liked how the team enters now and comes towards the home sideline. And yes I'm a donor for those who would post about complaining without giving.

For some reason the bid process has been extended until this coming Monday, January 27th. Don't know if the all the previous bids came in over budget. Or if the General contractors are having trouble getting prices on some of the "specialty" items required for an athletic building.

that's it for now- The Inside Man.......

Wonder if some of the bids could come in a tad lower the second time around.

Some changes in materials/plans and a second go around can be helpful for all parties involved. I built our office from the ground up and you can save a lot of money doing many different things that doesnt change things a whole lot. For example I learned that an open ceiling that looks industrial is actually much more expensive then celing tiles. So we enclosed some of the ceiling wiht tiles but still left much of it with an open look. Also changing composites and such in lounges, kitchens, and baths can make a big difference. Stuff like that!

So did you stroke a check to cover the over-runs? They came to see me about four months ago.

No one ever comes around to see me. I guess they don't appreciate the recruiting cache' a nice chrome door-stop can bring to a facility like Larimer.

Bids were resubmitted today at 3:00 pm. Haven't heard any details yet. Will let you know if I find out anything.

Mosser, of Fremont and Maumee, was the low bidder, followed by The Speiker Company of Perrysburg.
