Will he get Memphis to a bowl game next year, the year after that or the year after that?

Interesting. Wasn't expecting that response. I thought most would teeter between bowl game in 2-3 years or fired in 2-3 years.

I expect a St. Petersburg Bowl BBVA Compass Bowl appearance. That would suffice.

I'm expecting a bowl this season.

I was under the impression that there will not be any more bowls because this was the last year for the bcs bowls and the beginning of play offs.

Next year will be hard to go bowling since we play AT Ole Miss, AT UCLA, AT Cincy, AT Central Florida and we play MTSU (a team we seem to never beat). That leaves very little room for error if we are 1-4 after these 5 games!!!

We are 2 seasons away from going bowling. However, we are marching in the right direction.

It is a tough schedule. What a year to quit playing pansy teams.

Anyway, we will be better and should win several conference games.

I am planning on being at the UCLA game and maybe running down to Del Mar to watch the ponies.

Depends on how many coaches we lose..

If we lose Barry Odom-- that might be -2 to the win column.

If we lose Darrel Dickey -- that could be +2 to the win column.

Wasn't this discussed over and over after the season. We are way better off than we were when he was hired. We are making improvements and will continue getting better talent and some depth. I don't believe a bowl next year is a requirement to keep his job. Anyone expecting miracles just didn't see the damage that Porter did to the program.

I don't think a bowl is necessary for coach to keep his job . We all hope to see much improvement in 2014. Hayes coming back helps. Brutal schedule. What I do not want to ever see again is the total let down like the last two games. Those games still worry me.

Continued on the field improvement in terms of game day prep, organization, execution should be our goal. Layered in observations include: reduction of penalties, ball security, 4Q of fight, and winning games that we should win (ie finish off opponents).

The assumption is that overall offense performance with increase a realistic % due to continuity and defense will maintain level. Net- 2 additional wins and better overall on the field performance (ie entertaining product)

With only two exceptions, we were a ball of fire in the fourth quarter this past year. Two huge ooc games, slip up on either won of those would be huge for the program. I agree on the penalties. Don't mind them if they are aggressive if not stupid.

At least we aren't having issues anymore of lining up wrong or not being able to get off a play.

Being able to maintain drives, keep the chains moving will go a long way toward this team making some noise.
