We are interviewing for Head Football Coach not IT Manager. Most of your candidates are well known in the coaching/AD circles. If anything, working out the contract details/asst coaches packages takes longer than the interview process.

I am losing track of the timeline. When did McGee leave again?

Friday morning.

Every AD, in theory has a list. But to think that you will have a coach by today even finalized. Not unless the AD had only 1 name on his list.

I suspect none of the interviews have been made at this point.
In the gathering names & whittling them down phase right now.

Starting to believe those early morning reports. And everything else between now and the time Clark gets back in town to speak with JSU AD is a distraction.

Can somebody, in 1 short paragraph, tell me why we should be interested in Clark??

FootballScoop guy has since tried to walk back his comments. Bill Clark was reportedly so mad about the tweet he contacted footballscoop this morning.

Looks like the kind of coach we need.

McGee would just tweet away without thinking.

Quote:“Let’s keep this thing exactly what it is,” Clark said. “It’s one thing for somebody to have interest in you. It’s another that you took the job."

“When somebody says Bill Clark will be a leading candidate versus Bill Clark is going to take the job, it’s totally different."

Interesting quotes, though. I also like the part where he says he's already gotten 100 phone calls from people wanting to be on his UAB staff.

Sounds like the kind of coach you would want.

He is thinking about others in the process.

Coached some monster high school teams at Prattville. Was DC at South Alabama when they finished 2nd in the Belt in total D. Took the JSU job last year and went 11-4, finishing ranked 10th in the FCS.

They'd gone 7-4 and 6-5 their previous two years.

Whether we get him or not, he won't be at JSU long.

In reading that article, I saw more class from Bill Clark than I ever saw from McGee.

We could do much worse. I tend to think that things are unlikely to have moved that far that fast. Feel him out, see if there is mutual interest and something to negotiate? Sure. Offer a job? I'd be amazed if they have even been able to talk to everyone on Mackin's list v1.0 at this point..

Please elaborate. I'm not familiar with the internal politics at JSU.

All I'm hearing is rumors so I will not get to the dirty.
If true could speed up Biils exit from JSU. Even us at JSU realize it will come soon but you would hope the ones on our side wouldn't be coming close to encouraging it.

Silly season it not just for racing anymore

Silly season is usually between the end of basketball and the start of football here, but we make a screaming exception for coaching hires.

Quite obviously.

I would assume a mix of high school, unemployed, and guys simply looking to move up from a position coach to coordinator position.

There are only two FBS jobs open. Two staffs to fill in FBS. If you are looking for an FBS job these are your options. So 100 calls wouldnt be out of line.
