The basketball experience is good the few years we have a decent team.

I believe that was the opening season of Tudor in 2009, it was against the Aggies, and IIRC, it was the day after the Texas Bowl... I was there with my family. That's almost a perfect storm of positives for attendance for Rice in the midst of what have been about 9 awful years (one winning season since 2004-2005 or prior) ... 5208 was the attendance that day.

Oh yeah, I remember they had the Texas Bowl Trophy in the lobby for photos.

RE: Owls vs Owls
This is going to sound sad, but I think the UTEP game was one my favorite college experiences.

My roommates and I and a few other people from Lovett put up tents outside of old Autry and stayed there over night even though we knew no one else was going to wait in line.

I can remember going around to the quads and serveries with the bullhorn all week and announcing the game.

Willis came around to each college that week with the team and had a meal at each college and got on the microphone to speak to the students.

I remember us coming from around 15 down to take the lead and that was the most pandamonium I had ever seen at a Rice basketball game.

Like I said, one of the greatest undergrad experiences I ever had.

Just to let you know, the Autry Army traces back to that Stanford game...
