"Must have demonstrated ability to lead and direct a sports program"
Gives me the impression that he would have to have some d-1 head coaching experience.

Sometimes what they post isn't what they end up with. I'm sure if someone is qualified enough or impresses enough that doesn't meet all the criteria they could still be hired/looked at. Most of the time HR posts this to preweed all the "burger flippers" applying for CEO type jobs situations.

Also interesting it says 8 years experience, though they might count their playing days as 4 of those 8 years.

That would rule out Bill Clark too, only 6 years of experience. 5 at South Alabama, 1 at JSU. (Unless they count playing days)

Yeah. It's amazing how flexible those job descriptions get when you pick the candidate you want.

So why does Josh Niblett's name keep popping up?

RE: UAB HC Minimum Requirements
"related experience" could mean working as an equipment manager at a Div I, II, or III program
Don't read too much into those requirements, except that it does mean that the hire will not come directly out of a high school job. UAB stick pretty strictly to those requirements when they post a job, but "related experience" is a VERY flexible term.

For the same reason the name Rush Propst keeps popping up. They have a following because they have been successful (at their level). High school FBHCs have been successful as college level OCs or DCs and then later moving up but not as successful going directly to HC.
