He was one of my choices last time, but if UAB calls, he would probably call McGee as a consultant. What would be his calculation? - FBHC at a program that has no winners in a decade and more, or DC at a program that is well financed and stable (and in an AQ conference).

Well...when we hired McGee, we used Watson Brown and Mike Anderson as consultants.
Inaccurate assessments go both ways.

No I meant what I said but that too. I think it's time to look/think outside the box. We need to quit regurgitating the same old 10 names. Mackin needs to go out and find a guy who isn't a "name" and has a proven record , even at a lower level, as a leader. Then sit him down, tell him the whole story and together chart a course out off of this island. Seriously. A guy like Nix runs too much of a chance of being just like McGee. JMO.

"Sit him down and tell him the whole story" about the status of UAB football, UAB's relations with the system BOT and the amount of support funding he can expect, and he may run screaming from the room. Hire him and like McGee, let him find out for himself.
BTW, How can one have "a proven record" but still "isn't a name"? As far as leaving due to success, we can only hope such a thing might happen at UAB. So far we have not had that problem in football.

Yeah, when he figures it out, he walks out on the team. Smart.
Why not be upfront about our situation and the guy that takes it we can be sure really wants it and ain't afraid to fight.

Before Steele, the rumor was Gene Chizik to Louisville. Hopefully that ends up happening, if for no other reason to take him off the table here.

If McGee didn't do his research and find out the situation he was getting into, he's a worse coach than I thought he was. He knew exactly what he was getting into.
