What is attractive about UAB Football to a potential candidate?
You are Mackin, you have to sell this program to a candidate.

Positives - FCS (Div I) program

Negatives - Lack of support from BOT, lack of city support, lack of student support, lack of facilities.

I list some of the subjects that most of you say keeps UAB from being a successful FCS program. So how does a coach overcomes this? How does a coach put a winning product of the field with these current negatives? I'm not saying it can't be done but how does it get done?

Guys that make good head coaches are confident enough in themselves and their abilities that they think that they can make a difference and turn things around. If they can win at a place with the well-documented problems that UAB has, they can parlay that into a better job.

That mindset sells itself on the job.

Positive = Several hundred D-1 prospects within a 200 mile radius every year.

I'm sure McGee was confident in his abilities at one point. Good HC's also needs the tools available to help him to turn things around. Do UAB has the tools necessary for our new coach to make that happen?

I think these are serious questions that will need to be answer by Mackin and the President regarding the program.

Recruiting against over 10+ Div I programs in that same radius with better facilities.

1). Plenty of local talent to recruit
2). More money
3). Great community to live and raise family
4). Academic institution
5). Low expectations and pressure (allowing the coach to be highly creative)
6). Conference USA

Some people look good in green so I would also assume that may attract someone?

McGee said all he needed was flat piece of land.

I have no idea!

However, I agree with UAB Band Dad. If you like challenges, and are confident you can turn this program around, better offers will definitely come your way. The UAB football head coach has to be the most difficult job in sports.

Coach of the North Korea national men's basketball team probably sucks.

Well, he was wrong about that too.

Yep.

We can't act like that's not a big deal, because it is.
