You say this like it's easy.

I don't think it's easy at all. But I think if it did happen, VCU would have to gain a lot of respect for doing just that.

I just don't believe Fox has any ability to force 12 or any specific teams down the BE throat. And basketball success would override institutional fit for a UConn, who the schools have already partnered with. I don't see it for anyone else.

I think Fox could suggest it very strongly. Considering the Big East wants to be partners with them for a long time, Big East couldn't just totally ignore that. Also, I think if VCU made the final 4, and Fox came to them, a lot of the schools would have to be thinking very long and hard about it. It wouldn't just be an automatic no way.

Fox is selling inventory to CBS among others, so it is not an inventory issue. None of VCU, SLU or Dayton are generating enough interest for the A-10 to get a better deal, and another final four run isn't going to change that. You still need to convince me of your key premise, which is Fox has some realignment power. I'm not buying. Fox can suggest all it wants, but in this partnership, I just don't believe that Fox wants to be pushy about realignment to a group that is recently formed and trying to find its identity. Especially when the prize comes from the A-10. ND and UConn would be different animals. Plus, the partnership with Fox is currently for a decade. You can hope for more, but that is the contract length. In looking for its next members, the BE institutions are looking out for relationships that will much longer than the first Fox contract. The relationships between GU, VU, PC, SHU and SJU have outlasted the ESPN contracts.

RE: Splits Again?
I think if VCU made the final 4(which I agree with aughnanure is very hard)- I think that changes a lot of things. Big East would have to think long and hard about them at that point. Especially if we got in the tourney what was projected today by CBS- with 4 teams- but with a very real possiblility of none making it out of 1st weekend(to include Nova- having to play New Mexico or Louisville 2nd round). To think the BE presidents would just be able to ignore VCU at that point is foolish.
