Agreed. Institute a more traditional lineup. I would go with Jackson, Crawford, Goodwin, Pellom, and Nichols. Rotate in King a lot and Iverson and Dom as game clock and foul trouble dictate. Sub guard for guard with occasional 3 guard lineups...never 4.

Who is going to be able to guard a 3 with that line up?

CJP after game comment:

"I told our guys that this is the American, and it is going to be tough. If they play the way we did today, then it is not going to work. We have to trust the process out there and play the way that I want them to play. We cannot let the defense get to us, and we have to play inside-outside basketball. Our guards were not sharp like I wanted. We have to do a better job when we travel to Louisville."

If they aren't playing the way he wants, then he has to pull them and go with 5 that will. We might lose either way but at least Josh makes his point with the team. Watching 5 guys defiantly play opposite of the way they've been instructed only makes it harder to regain control of the team.

We will lose in the 1st or 2nd round.

Are our big money guys getting their 2.65 million dollars worth? Hell no.

Dean Smith became the head coach at North Carolina in 1961 at the age of 30. Prior to that he was an assistant coach. In 1965, after a series of losses to Duke and others, he was hung in effigy on campus. Believe it or not he did not quit and he wasn't fired and he went on to have a pretty good record at North Carolina. Coach K was hired to coach at Duke when he was 30, and four years later after a less than stellar start there was a "Concerned Alumni" association created to pressure the administration for a better coach. He did not leave and he was't fired and he turned out to have a pretty good career.

How about we just hang with the coach we have, trust the learning process and his proven ability to recruit, and just see what happens? That is my suggestion, who is with me?

Yawn. This recycled conversation will not end until Josh is fired or we win the national championship. Same cast of characters on both sides, making the same arguments ad nauseam. Yawn.

For me, this was a bell-weather game. Whatever plan CJP had to win the game obviously did not work. Now we will see whether he learns from disaster or keeps repeating the same mistakes. So far, this is the second time this year we have seen this, and while I love the guy, it is cause for concern.

If we continue to play small ball no matter what. I say we lose 5-6 more to finish with 8-9 losses. Some games the shots will fall.

If we mix it up and do different things and take advantage of our talent and depth plus go back to what made us the Old Spice Classic champs AKA high/low, Inside/Out, Let Shaq touch the ball a lot. We lose 3 more tops.

Cincy has wins over the likes of NC Central, Appalachian St, something called Campbell, Massachusetts Lowell (I kid you not), and Kennesaw St - and they dominated the whole game and beat us almost 20 in our own building.

Amazing how a loss amplifies as time goes by.

Memphis lost today and was outplayed. There are no moral victories in a home conference loss, even against a solid opponent.

With that- Cincy did not dominate the the whole game.

Memphis led most of the first half and even led in the second half. Game was tied at 39 with 13 minutes left and it was Memphis ball. Crawford missed a three, and Cincy then had tow "and ones" and a three while we made one free throw to fall behind 40-48 and call a timeout. From there, we never really got back in, remained about 10 points behind then last media session free throws gave the final score.

I get kicking our own while they are down, but the reality is this was a competitive game that got away midway through the second half- and we then got smashed late on the scoreboard.

Memphis didn't just lose today Mimi. They got blasted, blistered, smoked and totally outplayed by a team they were supposed to beat AT HOME!!!!!!! Quit downplaying the significance of this embarrassing loss. We're going to get tortured by the media and the polls for this one.

This is probably Josh's most significant BAD LOSS of his coaching career. This one is going to hang like a turd that doesn't make the first flush for the rest of the year. This wasn't a loss. This was way more. Like 18 points at home to an unranked team. We're going to get screwed for this one.

I'm not even sure a win at Louisville in Louisville will wipe away this stench.

A bit of an overreaction, but I think you know that. You are chunking another log on the PASTNER SUCKS fire.

We heard all of this after the Nov 19 OSU beat down:
"WOrse beating ever"
"More than a loss"

No one denies MEMPHIS got the hell beat out of it today.

But to actually act as if this loss will "hang like a turd that won't flush down the first time"? For the REST of this season? Damn, that's bad.

Plus you already begin to cover for Thursday's game at UL by stating you're unsure that even a win there will erase this loss (stench). Absolutely classic negative postulation; that is pure horsesh^t and you know that, too. I know you'll forever bring it up regardless, but no, MEMPHIS winning at Louisville would put this behind us. Anyone that keeps referencing it after beating UL at their place really is a TAMM.

MEMPHIS could go 1-17 in AAC play or go 17-1 or anywhere in between.

Let's see how it plays out before crucifying Pastner. If he goes .500 or worse, we'll let you hammer those first spikes home. Is that fair enough?

News flash! I don't think Josh Pastner is a good game coach. Like thats the first time I've said that?

Let's try again Boss. I think he he's a ****** coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!&&&&*()(&^$%$#@#

Just in case I need to clarify that. I think he's a really lousy coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, you've made that abundantly clear.

But your ranting accusations about this loss to UC being some type of continual anchor on Pastner and this particular team even if they go up to UL and win Thursday is simply hatred/hyperbole at its best. Or, to use my eloquent description....IT IS 100% BULLSH!T!

"A turd that doesn't flush the first time".

Classic, even for you.

Keep throwing gasoline on the HATE PASTNER fire, comrade. And sharpen those spikes, my most eager Pastner hater. Revel in these losses. Continue the assaults and attacks on Pastner. In your bizarre world, Pastner actually coaches these guys to shoot 24% and not box out and miss FTs and fumble entry passes in the lane OB for TOs, etc.

Stay thirsty, my TAMM.

RE: Prediction after this poor showing
Waaaaahhhh!!

I disagree.

To me- when folks pout and overreact and use terms like team got embarassed or were stomped from the beginning etc...when the game was tied with 13 minutes left, was in reach with a few minutes left- then had the final score look much worse than the game- it screams more about their "problems" than the team's.

Gee mimi you accept losing.

Please.

Memphis got stomped at OK State. Was well behind early and never got back in it- the lead got to near 40? and it was embarassing.

The Cincy game was TIED well into the second half.

The final score was not indicative of the game- which does not mean our kids did not play poorly and get beat up badly down the stretch of the game...the last 10 minutes were really rough- shots would not fall and the game got out of hand.

Memphis was up 16 at USF at the half and the lead ballooned to 29 in the second half. Memphis subbed liberally and the final of that game was basically the same margin as the final in the Cincy game. Only in Internet love to hate and argue land are those two GAMES the same.

This is a bottom line sport. While I get the PERCEPTION by those who did not watch the entire game is shaped by the final score only- fans of our team should at l;east recognize that in a game where our best players could not make a shot against a quality opponent the game was TIED well into the second half- which means it was winnable- unlike the first OK State game- where losing by 20 was not indicatove of how poorly our kids played- see how that works.

Get tougher.

I will join in on the over reactors and yellers at everyoners with this- yes- Pastern seems to not worry as much about the PERCEPTION by those who do not watch the games. Winning by 15 at USF in a game we could have posted a score with a win by 30 does not LOOK as impressive. And losing by 16 in a game that was within 10 heading int the last media session does not LOOK as competitive as it really was.

But- one counts as a win and one counts as a loss.

Now- let's cheer for throwing the ball into the post no matter what every time even when all 5 defenders are inside the paint!!
