I'm old
When I was in high school we'd go to the parking lot at lunch and someone would crank up the stereo. We were listening to ZZ Top and one of the teachers starts walking out and we are expecting to get scolded then he hears the band and started smiling and says "they played my high school prom"
Seems the band's van broke down and a student at his school stopped and got it fixed while they chatted. They asked if they could pay him and he said how about you play our prom so they did. He said everyone thought the prom band was OK until about a year later when they were on the charts then it was the greatest prom in all prom history. :)

Had a HS biology teacher who knew them. Was trying to give away tickets to one of their concerts in a friend's class. Couldn't give them away. Of course, they hit it big shortly thereafter. Personal trivia, Billy Gibbons was in the restaurant the night my wife and I got engaged. Hard to miss him with that beard. I actually remember watching Marvin Zindler's (EYE-witness NEWS-good golf, good tennis or whatever makes you happy) original series of reports 40 years ago on the "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." Yes, in that movie Dom Deluise represented a real person. Of course, the sheriff was a crusty old man who didn't look anything like Burt Reynolds. ZZ Top's "LaGrange" really was inspired by Marvin's reports (in case you haven't already made the connection--"Lot of nice girls out there").
Speaking of old, same restaurant we sat a couple of tables over from David Brinkley one night. There was a time everyone shared Huntley & Brinkley or Walter Cronkite. Bet there are a bunch of people on this board who have no clue what I am talking about.
