Trying to get documents to the bank, the lawyers, the realtors, and making sure that everything is being done is a real pain.

No one told me how fast everything moves once an offer is accepted, so I didn't have an attorney or inspector lined up. The five day review period was a rush, my attorney waited until the last minute to ask for an extension to the review period. I think once I get some stuff back from the condo association it should be smooth sailing until closing.

My brother warned me about this. For future reference, before you sign a contract with your agent to be sent over to your attorney, you can change the five day review period to 10 or longer I think. All you do is change it on the contract, initial, and give it to your attorney. When my brother bought his house, he told me how 5 days isn't enough and that everything moves so fast.

Also, I wouldn't get a house inspector through your agent unless you can really trust that person. Otherwise, they might give you a bad one in hopes that he doesn't catch any major problems with the house that would be a deal killer.

But congrats on making it thus far. It is indeed a long, stressful but exciting process.
The inspector and attorney I used were both recommendations from others. Next time I know to have those people lined up in advance, as well as making sure there is longer than a 5 day review (either in the contract, or by my lawyer requesting an extension right away.

The inspector I used was...deliberate. He took his time and explained things along the way. I had no idea as to the wide breadth of what he would be looking at, all the details they notice.

On another note, the guy I am buying from got his MBA from NIU, so he seems like a righteous dude.

Could I get the contact info for your house inspector?
PM'd you.
