That should be the very first question for any energy policy. Some of my major grievances with being able to take global warming fanatics seriously:
1) Their solutions don't actually solve the problem they claim exists. Much like driving in a Prius, many of them have no impact what-so-ever. Carbon credits is a giant boondoggle for economically inferior (read: present day "green") energy and the government itself since it is naturally all taxed.
2) Anybody employed in an energy sector massively dependent upon government subsidy today, and yet even with that subsidy is STILL not competitive, cannot be trusted. This means nuclear, wind, solar, and solar. The viable green stuff is largely already exploited (niche biodiesel, niche geothermal, niche hydroelectric).
3) Any scientist dependent on government dollars -- and keeping those government dollars flowing to maintain their job security -- cannot be trusted to do much more than parrot at least shades of what the government wants to hear. This inevitably feeds heavily back into carbon credits (re-read #1).
4) Contradictory evidence isn't just ignored, it is suppressed. Show me a panic model that predicted our present 10-year (and counting) pause. Oh that's right, all 150+ models used by the UN global warming fanatics didn't predict it.
5) The sheer staggering arrogance to think we humans have a totality of understanding of the Earth's climate when: there are a huge number of variables and none of them can be controlled for, we cannot even reliably predict the climate next week let alone next decade, all of our allegedly super smart models have been dead wrong for a decade and counting, etc. It took us until the last 2 years to even photograph a squid as large as a multi-story building trolling the ocean and duking it out with sperm whales ........... but we understand completely the entire global climate and how all the diverse ecosystems interact and impact climate and how the interstellar influences interact with and impact climate and wow we've even got down the future projection of the changes made on climate by major natural disasters, technological advancement, and future solar activity. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
