Basketball does not cut it. A large football market like Houston (the University of Houston ) cuts it and brings in TV revenues. I would love to see Rice in CUSA because of its academics but with a 5,000 student body and another team from Houston in the AAC they would be a negative. Bring on Army,Air Force or BYU to the AAC.

Been there and done that. Marshall was not competitive in CUSA against the same teams that are now in the AAC; and that was despite the fact that Marshall had non-qualifiers by the bus load each year. The AAC does not allow non-qualifiers so where would Marshall get athletes if they were not allowed to take marginal students? Marshall would almost certainly be a drag on the AAC if the AAC made the same mistake that CUSA made by taking Marshall.

Who cares if nobody in Houston cares about UH? They even won't turn the TV on for UH vs Alabama

Honestly, I'm surprised at some of the comments on this board from our long time conference mates. Again, I'd like to be in the AAC and Southern Miss has lots of potential and good things happening right now.

On what foundation are you basing you remake? Why was it a mistake to take Marshall? We had a rough start because of coaching changes in football and a lagging basketball team. I'm not saying MU will ever be in the AAC, but I just want to know why you think MU was a mistake for C-USA?
