You don't have to have one at all.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel...

They call us UAB, but alphabetically we are listed as if we are Alabama-Birmingham

U should feel fine. You could also assume that they've listed us as The University of Alabama at Birmingham, but dropped the University part, as they did for everybody else on the list

Blue font makes sense...but in my defense, it wouldn't be uncommon for folks around here to get worked up about such stuff

Heck, at this point I'm glad we're included anywhere in an article about "major college football."

With over a dozen bowl games this week, I think we will see some coaching hire news from UAB by the end of next week. The FBHC will want to have his staff in place for the 2/5/14 NSD "stretch run" during January.

Just as some suggested that XBBHC Davis was looking for a new job with Cousins "in his pocket", it may also be true of any new assistant coach - that he has the inside track on some recruit that UAB covets (That was the basis for UARK hiring Malzon as OC - to get QB Mitch Mustain).

Probably it's more like not till they make a deal and know what's up. I don't think that it has anything to do with dead period so much as getting the deal done, assuming whoever it is has completed their bowl.

If we're talking Nix, I think they announce as soon as the deal is done to try to keep recruits he's been in on from signing elsewhere, and that still applies if it is someone else.

Lots of jobs out there. Its not a stretch to think that some coaches may be wading through options.

Knowing the way things have gone in the past, we won't know who the new coaches are till first day of spring practice lest the secret get out

The better coaches are probably like the better players -- they have more choices so it takes some lengthy thinking to decide between schools. Some players must consider the available spaces on the rosters of their favored schools and for coaches likewise, the spaces on desirable option schools are also limited. That may explain why some schools have co-DC and co-OC positions on their staffs.
