That is all the first team Tulsa World All-Staters that are committed to TU this recruiting year. Just 2 out of 26 listed!

This was supposed to be a premiere year for recruiting in the state and since TU was coming off the LB win, was going into a better conference and held onto all their coaches in the off season, we were supposed to have a very good recruiting year. Did we?

Now this is nothing against the two youngsters we have committed (OG Gerald Miller from Bixby 6-2 285 and DE Jeremy Smith 6-4 230 from Berryhill), but that just doesn't seem to be the foundation to rebuild the program with. We need to coach AND recruit like our hair is on fire.

Now we'll see if there will be some coaching staff changes coming, not just sending the offensive staff to some other school to re-learn how to coach and score points.

RE: 2
It is now being reported that RB Michael Warren has committed to Iowa St. So we've lost our #1 target at running back. MW has now taken a schollie at a school four times further than TU from his home. I wish him luck, but it is obvious that state recruits are viewing TU much differently than they did even a year or so ago.

Also, there is a report that RB Deandre Murray, our only 3 star "commit" not in school at the moment, will not qualify and have to go to JUCO evidently. How can we run the ball in the offense we did last year called by the same person who did that last year wo the quality of RBs we had last year? We have a JUCO RB on campus that had better be the answer or we are looking at a disaster of historical proporations.

When will we get better news? I think it could be quite some time - like a couple of years unless things turn around soon.

I heard the weekly TU AD radio show on 1430 last Tuesday. Plank asked the AD (Gragg) if he has sat down with BB and talked about the FB program and his standard answer was that they talk. He also said that he's responsible for hiring the HC's and they hire the assts and left it at that. But any idiot would say that IMO. Most of the talk on that program was about a family birth that has absolutely nothing to do with an ADs job. So I think the wagons are definitely "circling".

Does anyone think that the AD would replace BB or would it be the administration and Sted?

I wish this was good news for a change.

Also the Tulsa World reported some receiver from Kansas has committed to TU. But the caveat was that he doesn't have a single schollie offer from a DI school. That means the Kent Sts, South Alabamas, Buffalo's and Charlottes of the FB world didn't or wouldn't offer. But I hope he's the next Marion, Largent or Twilley.

IMO.

Not a single one in the North Texas Top 100......I've never seen anything close to that before........UTSA, UTEP, La Tech, SMU with several and a couple of schools that aren't worth mentioning but no Tulsa......we better have a whole bunch of sleepers or we are going to be down for awhile. I think we are OK at QB, if they are tutored properly and I think running back is OK if we run a pass attack offense.....I really do like the new guy that is enrolled already for 15 or 20 touches a game. Speed will probably kill us on defense!!!

RE: 2
Because it looks like we won't sign that great RB prospect this year and have such a bare cupboard returning, I still think it would be a good idea to give Marco Nelson a shot at RB since our defense should be much stronger than the offense in comparison. I know that would rock the boat a bit, but this is a serious disaster if we can't come up with someone to run the BB offense IMO.

It just makes sense since we have everyone back in the secondary next year (we'd have to sit a starter) and Marco may be the best athlete on the team who was an All State RB in HS. I doubt we can win very many games throwing the ball in this oiffense, so it is imperative to find that back that can take it to the house if we get a decent blocking line. Otherwise, our defense may have to do some of the scoring. This is a grave situation imo. But it was predictable.

RE: 2
There are some fans bragging about the fact that we recruited(offered) 25 of the Dallas area Top 100 to prove we are still recruiting Dallas. I'm not sure I would brag about the fact we we recruited 25 of them and got exactly 0......I'm not sure I would mention that at all......doesn't say much for our recruiters. We have always done well in the Dallas area and I guess we did get a couple of players this year(just not Top 100) but we have done pretty good with the Top 100 in the past and with the new conference I hope we are able to do better next year!!!

RE: 2
With the commitments of some good players late including a great LBer prospect out of Memphis, this class could be about as good as our other classes in the BB era.

Petera Wilson was obviously a great late pickup. Alabama, LSU, Florida, Texas, OU, USC, Ohio St all offered and we don't get many players who have been scrutinized by those kinds of programs even though most of them backed off late because they were full. But I think this is a very good commit who we desperately needed at this time.

Now if we can find a QB, RB and WR on offense, we might actually make some noise in the AAC ---- I hope!
