MAC Bowl Performance
N. Illinois may come back and win this game, but the MAC has looked pitiful in their bowl games. I was shocked that BGU lost to a 6-6 Pitt team; Ohio got owned by ECU, Buffalo got done by that powerhouse from San Diego State. What has surprised me is how they have all been out-physicaled, both strength and speed. I don't know what it means, if anything, when comparing the three conferences that have come under scrutiny on these boards. But I would enjoy hearing your takes on this.

To me the MAC teams so far look like plodders. The difference in team speed between Pitt and Bowling Green was noticeable.

MAC Bowl Performance
Wait, I thought the MAC was the new BIG, what happened guys? Since this board and it's MAC fan boys only have memories that are at best 2 seasons, and think 1 year creates a trend that will never be altered, I couldn't be happier with this result. See-ya 'ol rusty belt.

At least the MAC is consistent.

It should be noticeable. The BCS schools should have better athletes than the MAC schools for the most part.

Perhaps the players at BGU were still in shock over Dave Clawson going to Wake Forest. Clawson recruited the players that won D1 Nc of 2008 at Richmond! Sorry Barneys, just had to get that wonderful fact mentioned!

And you've sucked ass ever since he left. Pretty soon you'll be playing the likes of Garner-Webb, Lenior Rhyne, Mars Hill, Bridgewater and Catawba with your high end Jr. High school facilities and such. But you won't mind because you'll still be able to sip mimosas and eat crumpets at your tailgate while wearing your red turtlenecks and black cardigans.

Saw this posted on the MAC boards. It is the record of the conference in bowl games in recent years. Other than 2011, they've struggled.
2013: 0 - 4
2012: 2 - 5
2011: 4 - 1
2010: 2 - 2
2009: 1 - 4
2008: 0 - 5
2007: 0 - 3
2006: 1 - 3

also Pitt and the referees bad calls made that a much closer game than it should have been. An exaples is that kick return by BGSU after the half should not have been allowed, which was a big momentum shift. Plus Pitt's play calling was inept at times, they should have steamrolled BGSU.

5 year post-championship records:
JMU (2005-2009): 42-18, 3 playoff appearances (1 semi-final)
2013 attendance: 21,011
UR (2009-2013): 34-24, 1 quarterfinal appearance
2013 attendance: 8,596
I think the numbers speak for themselves.

I've said if before, and I'll say it again...the MAC is where schools go to die. No one has been entering the MAC lately, and no one leaves the MAC. The stadiums are mostly old and out of date and the crowds compete with high school football games in Hampton Roads. Most MAC schools are from these Mid-West towns that have passed their prime and the week night TV games has been a topic beat to death and worth bringing up again.

Better accept it. That is where we are going! Akron had a nice stadium.

So was Marshall...
Compared to almost every conference in the country, that movement barely registered.
Annnnnnd...Temple went down to the MAC after the embarrassment of being kicked out of the Big East and UCF and Marshall left the MAC for CUSA.
IMO - AAC > CUSA/Sun Belt > MAC > CAA

GA State has a nice stadium too but like Akron, no one goes and no one cares

RE: MAC Bowl Performance
The MAC bowl games are in Detroit, Mobile, Boise, St Pete and San Diego. Other than San Diego and maybe St Pete that's poo.
CUSA has more bowl games and better locations. New Orleans, St Pete, Dallas, DC, Memphis and Hawaii. Plus the rivalries would be better and the recruiting areas would be much better. We should be be aiming here for sure.
Sure the MAC is better than CAA but it feels like we'll just be an Eastern Michigan or Buffalo in the MAC. Maybe Rutgers or Maryland will eventually play in our stadium but none of the big ass Big Ten schools like Ohio St, Michigan or Penn State will.
