RE: 2013-14 Track and Field Thread
Looks like the Rockets might be having some success in distance events at the meet in Geneva. Unless I'm completely misreading things, UT women won the distance medley, did very well in the 5000 meter run (didn't win but took 6 of the top 8 spots), took the top two spots in the mile run and won the 3000 meter, taking 7 of the top 8 spots in that event.

Here's a link. You'll have to click on the name of the event to see if I know what I'm talking about. For some events they have the results from the heats followed by the results in the finals, so for those events you'll have to go down the page to see the final results.

Toledo appears to be the only D1 school involved. I would think our 5 K times should be closer to 17 flat.

RE: 2013-14 Track and Field Thread
I don't follow track and field closely enough to know what a good time is. Good point about the absence of other D-I schools. I didn't notice that.

Here's a link to a story about the meet.

Not a lot of Ari and Emmas out there.

Actually. Not to downplay their recent improvement last week. Coach Hadsell had a bunch of Ari and Emma's. He turned Chognaky and Tullis into a couple of Ari and Emma's but they have gone backwards. That program has a top-10 list that rivals any school in the nation. Big shoes to fill.

I question the Ari and Emma improvement, for Chog and Tullis based off of results.
You still have not accepted what ultimately took place UTX.
You I believe were too close to the problem to understand the problem.
Definitely big shoes, but a change of shoes in this case was warranted.

Well, of course he didn' t, but he certainly helped a lot of young ladies reach a potential others didn't see in them. Very few became Aris or Emmas. Not a lot of Aris and Emmas out there.

Fisher 1604
Shook 1610
Lagat 1615
Laitinen 1630s
Chogs 16:20s
Tullis 1630s
Emma 1640

ChogN and Tullis nowhere close time times under Hadsell

That's just off top of mind. I'm sure coach book deal will address Emma. Her lack of credible lawsuit is my biggest skepticism.

Last sentence has nothing to do with the thread. Dude's gone. Move on.

Exactly. I appreciate the people that try to defend me. Truth is, I messed up. I actually don't even really like talking about it anymore. I have a different life. People are human. We make mistakes. Not the end of the World. Loved Toledo. LOVED IT. Still do. The book is not really about what happened. It is about the process by which I had to pick myself up after being rock bottom. I am a victim of nobody other than myself and my own stubborn pride and ego. I feel as though I have been punished enough after losing my job, my career, my credibility, my character, my amazing girlfriend, my beautiful home, my future earnings and benefits. I am done rehashing it. Let's keep this about the program and the kids.

RE: 2013-14 Track and Field Thread
You know what would be a really cool and simple addition to the track stadium? How about they put some state-of-the-art lighting all around the stadium. It would make it feel more like a stadium and could be used at night.

I don't really know if a scoreboard is essential for track and field, but adding a nice scoreboard as well would add to the atmosphere a lot.
