La Tech fans: Do you guys think your school would try to block a ULL addition or would they support it?

I believe that both La. Tech and ULL are better additions than Tulane

You really don't have a lot of options in recruiting. south Alabama and Tulane are going to severely hamper your oportunity to recruit 2nd tier talent. I know that's you and usmbackers biggest fear. Well that's the truth. I like USM but much like UAB the growth of FBS has hurt you.

Who knows? I doubt that anyone on the board does but if ULL would help us get LSUS added to the LA Tech system then we could probably help them get into the conference and with their name issues.

LSU clearly runs the state but Tech and ULL combined have a pretty decent amount of support in the state.

The fact that UL-Lafayette, Tulane, and Southern Miss are all in shouting distance of each other yet play in three different conferences is a PRIME example of how conference realignment hasn't always helped the local product...

There's a lot of truth in this post. When the Slum Belt decided to start impersonating a football conference, most USM fans didn't notice. A few even saw positive possibilities there. At the time, though, I realized that the existence of a Slum Belt football conference would eventually tend to suck USM downto the level of USL, USA, and the like. Being I-A was no longer something meaningful. The SBC cheapened our own status and history, and it was probably inevitable on the day that conference was founded that if USM didn't find a way up the ladder, we would end up being a de facto member of the SBC.

Winston, Dr. Savoie supported the LSUS acquisition by Tech. As for supporting us in a CUSA invite we already know that the Tech administration supports this.....

Winston, Dr. Savoie supported the LSUS acquisition by Tech. As for supporting us in a CUSA invite we already know that the Tech administration supports this.....

Which is why I chuckle at the fans on both sides. We hack each other into little pieces on these discussion forums but cooler heads always prevail when the money decisions are on the line.

I saw JD somewhere on this site talking about the Cajuns burning bridges. If only we were so important here.

What am I supposed to glean from those pictures of Ruston? They don't look too different from Baton Rouge to me. Lafayette is certainly no metropolis either.
