Looks like just the players and band parents showed up for the game.

The turf at PAC Bell is amazing. Even the grass over the infield dirt is green and not getting torn up. Reliant looked like a rodeo had been held on it.

From the Minneapolis Star Tribune:The announced paid attendance was 32,327, but that included Houston Texans’ season-ticket holders, many of which stayed away, as there were only a few thousand fans in the seats.

Mike, as you know, official attendance figures oftentimes mask the actual attendance in the stands, and this is especially true for the minor bowl games, which often often give away tickets to local hospitals, youth leagues, first responders, military and season ticketholders.

RE: 2013 Bowl Season
It's little wonder that Texans season ticket holders didn't want to use their free tickets. They have already had a full season of bad football and yesterday's game would have just added to the misery.

The Texas Bowl got what it asked for. It keeps thinking that it is on the same level as the Alamo Bowl and keeps trying to only get teams from P5 conferences. The only problem is that the Alamo Bowl is much higher in the pecking order and each year has a shot at UT, Tech, Baylor, KSU, or TCU. The Texas Bowl winds up having to go elsewhere when the Big 12 can't fill its slot and choosing the B10 has its problems as well since the best you will wind up with is probably Minnesota, Illinois, or Indiana.

The folks at the Texas Bowl keep touting their alignments then cringing as the TV shows acres of empty seats. I'm guessing the reason the game yesterday was played on last week's Texans turf instead of the plastic turf they use for UH and HS games is that they wanted to keep costs down.

Yep .... I wish there were turnstile/in-the-seats counts, but they would be embarrassing, no? ... and we can't have that, can we? :-)

Sure wish we could have played the Tommy Rees-led Notre Dame team of this year. He is truly awful - the mobility of a statue with a weak and inaccurate arm. Is this the best the Irish have got (with Golston out)? They're going to screw around and lose to a bad Rutgers team - 13-13 at the half.

Yea this game is in the running for the Dog Bowl for this year. I still think last night's Texas Bowl is in the lead but Rutgers and ND are trying hard to take the trophy.

But the Bowl officials did a smart thing and grabbed nearby Rutgers instead of UH so they could sell tickets. And for Rutgers who took a financial bath going to the Russell Athletic Bowl last year it was chance to see Rutgers against the team it seems everyone wants to play against in a bowl game and sell out their allotment.

You saw the outcome right? There might be a reception committee waiting for the team, if anyone cared that is.

The crowd at the Pinstripe Bowl looks great... not surprising for Notre Dame and Rutgers in NYC. Too bad for the crowd the game is played in a baseball stadium. The only worse fan experience than that is basketball in a football stadium. (Or Tennis in a multi-use facility, but that's not an annual event that the NCAA puts on).

Well hockey at baseball stadiums or the Big House in Ann Arbor aren't too spiffy either. But having said that having the Winter Classic at Fenway and Wrigley was neat.

The upcoming Ducks vs Kings at Dodger Stadium will be something.

Unless Louisville beats Miami tonight the AAC will have a hat trick today with 3 losses. Cincy looks pitiful and Rutgers was less than impressive. There is a real chance the conference could go 0-5 if Miami, Vandy, and Baylor all win.

The Arizona State - Texas Tech game (Holiday Bowl) is about to start. In anticipation of that, here is a tour of Todd Graham's Toad-Cave:

The ESPN love feast for Mack following his latest loss included Mark May praising Mack for "graduating" his players. I guess a 50% grad rate is heady stuff for the lap dogs at ESPN. Probably don't want to hack off any potential LHN customers.
