Blake Anderson is officially new ASU head coach
As a fan how could he not be assembling a major construction plan making top hires.

RE: Blake Anderson is officially new ASU head coach
Serious question how much credit do you think the AD deserves for this hire? I'm sure he did a lot of leg work but just like it is with conference moves, hiring a head football coach, is mainly done behind the scene, by the President of the school....
The AD is just the face that gets the credit when it works out and the blame when it goes south.
Also how much credit do you give the AD (if it was his hire) for getting the #3 on the list? We know for a fact ASU didn't get the #1 guy on their list.

The way our search committee works is that our AD is responsible for 95 percent of the leg work. He makes the list, narrows down the list of candidates, and then all three get together to interview those candidates. They decide on a top choice, and a 2nd choice, and go from there. Anderson was our 2nd choice, and that is only because we couldn't make the financials work for Morris. None of that is our AD's fault.
On another note, he'd been negotiating with the GO Daddy BOwl for two or three weeks prior to the WKU game. I can tell you that for a fact. He was also talking with the Independence Bowl, and we think one other bowl. The week of the WKU game, he was trying to get a bowl to make a commitment win or lose.
When ULL lost, negotiations with Go Daddy ramped up considerably.

The AD get credit for getting a $5 million dollar gift for the press box, restructuring top level of the donor club to increase revenue, no he didn't get his #1 guy but he had come to contract terms with his #1 guy who backed out because he didn't want to move his daughter, even getting to that point is more impressive than signing an unemployed derelict who has left a smoking heap behind him at every job.

Congrats on the great hire!Best of luck to StAte in future football.
Leave Petrino alone-besides it has nothing to do with the thread. Thankyou.

You have to know by now that we'll never leave Petrino alone. Heck, we'll probably haunt you guys over on the CUSA board next football season just because.
We're watching a firm example of what happens when Petrino leaves a few hours to our West. We're just warning you of what may be coming.

System President and AD work together with Chancellor as a 3 man committee. AD Mohajir has a major role in selecting the coach - you can see them in action here: https://twitter.com/chucklwelch/status/4...7648364544
