RE: If Stinespring is chosen...
Who were the other three? Sanchez, then who?

Also we have not had success with these national searches that have produced former JMU assistants/players.

Stinespring is a pretty conservative approach. Why hire a 3rd party search firm to hire someone out of our past?

We hired a third party to hire a former basketbsll assistant.

Third party is probably a good idea, it may find a a good fit that JB could not know about...there, that is PC.

I believe the assistant was the fourth choice. The other three turned us down.

People are being way too closed-minded regarding this potential scenario. Sure, he had some boring, predictable offenses in Blacksburg - Lord knows I sat through many seasons of it. But he also won a whole bunch of games, and sent a pile of players into the NFL. Yes, I realize Virginia Tech has relied on a great defense, but some would say JMU has done that as well. This offense needs a shot in the arm, I get it. A talented young offensive mind can provide that for a team. But if you're looking for a man who will recruit the best talent in the region, always look out for the best interests of the University, loves James Madison and will unlikely bolt after 2-3 years... I'm not sure there is anyone more qualified.

I agree.....and with Stiney's experience and contacts I feel confident he could assemble a good staff. I would also like to see a younger OC with some fresh ideas. Stinespring gets what I think is too much heat from his time as OC ---- do people really think Stiney was there that long, running that offense and it was not the style of offense wanted by Frank Beamer. The OC is not gonna just call games and run an offense that is NOT what the HC wants.

Also I feel like he could be at least a 5 year plan.
