Beats having them run right up the middle for six or eight yards virtually at will.

A couple of linebackers who can run, and that'll be just fine.

POW! Right in the kisser!!! I'm just tired of seeing UAB's defense get gutted like Trout by runs up the middle.

Who know what defensive scheme the new DC brings in, but plugging the gaps with 300lb monsters forces you outside, which will allow OLBs to cover the flats in pass & run scenarios, allowing your DBs to focus on covering deeper routes.

+1. 300lb DLs is in no way a bad thing.

The catch is that you need back-ups of equal size or skill to rotate, otherwise our opponents wait until a weaker or less-skilled player enters and that gap gets targeted... or we cheat an LB over or an S up to help and open up a hole in our coverage.

Point is, you are always giving something up when you are playing with a less-than-equal 2-deep roster.
