NFL Great Jim Brown On Obama: He’s In Over His Head

Arsenio did not like Brown's answers. Brown makes some great points. Of course he won't be getting any White House invites soon.

A "C" is a passing grade.

I think he just didn't want alienated by his brothers from different mothers.

"In over his head" is exactly the correct criticism.

All this "Kenyan Muslim" crap was just noise. The dude was/is an ideologue and a political dilettante.

Jim Brown is about five years too late in noticing.

Yeah, I got the impression he didn't want to give Obama a C; someone over their head doesn't get a C.

Something I've said since he first got it. He wasn't brought in for substance, he was specifically groomed to be the best candidate the democrats could ask for. Half black--can adapt to a lot of crowds, Ivy League educated, no black marks that can't be downplayed, from a large city, and no real record. Most importantly, at a time when the last thing people wanted was a Washington insider, they just happened to find him in Illinois.

The perfect non-insider to be controlled by the insiders.

HAHA, nor does he deserve a C.

Also, a farmer from Belle Glade, FL described Florida's governor, Rick Scott, as a selfish idiot with no brains and twelve tentacles.

So now a retired football player is the expert in politics?

Kind of funny isn't it? They say "who cares" when actors/actresses say any thing political they don't agree with. But all of a sudden, when one says something they agree with, it is no problem.

We really need a sarcasm emoticon on this board. Most athletes and actors are as dumb as cinder blocks when it comes to politics.

RE: NFL Great Jim Brown On Obama: He’s In Over His Head
Jim Brown is a former athlete, but he is no neophyte. He has been front and center in political activism for about 50 years. He comes from a different era where athletes like he, Muhammed Ali, Arthur Ashe and Kareem Abdul-Jabar rolled up their sleeves and went out into the streets and pushed for change within and outside of the black community. He and I probably don't agree on most politcal issues, but I give the guy a lot credibility.

That's too easy. Only the deep South was against the civil rights movement.

RE: NFL Great Jim Brown On Obama: He’s In Over His Head
I find it interesting, if for no other reason than he is one of the very few blacks that have been honest enough to say in a nice way, Obama has no clue and has been a train wreck of a president. If he wasn't being nice he would have given him the "D". As was stated, he has been politically active since the 1960's. I probably don't agree with a lot of what he thinks. Wonder how long before Jim has the Uncle Tom" label thrown at him - kinda like when Cosby essentially told black folks to "look in the mirror" if they didn't like their plight. Of course, no one wanted to hear his message.

Actors are well-known for speaking their opinions on politics, an athlete giving his opinion is no different. Whether they have a well-formed educated opinion, is up to the listener.

Jim Brown doesn't need to be invited. He will just go in, if he decides he should.

I don't understand the intended connection between CliftonAve's comment and Fitbud's reply.

But in any case, "Only the deep South was against the civil rights movement" depends on what is meant by "the civil rights movement." When Martin King campaigned for open-housing policies in Chicago in 1965 and got such a warm and cuddly reaction from the local population, was that campaign a part of the civil rights movement? Was Chicago a part of the deep South?
