RE: The unofficial Socon Football Schedule
Looks good to me! 11 games this year.
REINHARDT
* FURMAN
@ Stetson
WARNER
* @ VMI
* @ Samford
* WESTERN CAROLINA
* @ Chattanooga
* THE CITADEL
DAVIDSON (Homecoming?)
* @ Wofford
A nice mix of winnable games and some very tough SoCon games. The tougher SoCon games are mostly on the road.

RE: The unofficial Socon Football Schedule
I have been advised by those in the know that this schedule is "not 100% correct." No idea what changes will be made, but I would strongly suspect Mercer will be adding a 12th game.
Pure conjecture - I wouldn't be surprised to see that 12th game be a home game vs. Jacksonville U. Great game in 2013 and I'm thinking they would agree to come to Macon again in 2014 if we go down there in 2015...when I think they might have a bit more of 'real' stadium in place - http://www.news4jax.com/sports/ju-stadiu...index.html
Possible other 12th game HOME opponents - again, ONLY conjecture - Campbell, Presbyterian, an FCS HBCU from the SWAC or MEAC

I like the idea of a 12th game at home. Only if it's at home, and it makes sense to try and get another win. All the options you listed would be pretty good.

Seems that I heard Coach Lamb say they would play 12 in 2014.

Might as well do it. It's a win-win for the fans and the school. We get another gameday and the school makes some money. On that schedule the November 15th date is open. That could end up being the homecoming game if it's not Davidson the week before.

RE: The unofficial Socon Football Schedule
Scratch Campbell from my 'conjecture list' above. They released their 12 game schedule and no trip to Macon is on it...
August
8 Charlotte BUIES CREEK
September
Sat 6 at Appalachian St. Boone, N.C. (App State red shirted some starting seniors this year to be more competitive in the FCS Sun Belt next year -- their record this year showed that)
Sat 13 at Charleston So. Charleston, S.C.
Sat 20 BYE
Sat 27 Valparaiso * BUIES CREEK
October
Sat 4 at Morehead St. * Morehead, Ky.
Sat 11 Butler * BUIES CREEK
Sat 18 Davidson * BUIES CREEK
Sat 25 at Marist * Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
November
Sat 1 Stetson * BUIES CREEK
Sat 8 Missouri Baptist BUIES CREEK
Sat 15 at Jacksonville * Jacksonville, Fla.
Sat 22 at Dayton * Dayton, Ohio
* Conference games
They have PFL Conference games on 10/11 and 11/15 (Mercer's unofficial open dates where a 12th game might unofficially be slotted), so the Camels were probably never an option without unofficially changing around other unofficial games.

Ok scratch Campbell! We'll take 1-0 against them all time!
I'm sure we can always grab a lower tier school if it comes to that, wouldn't you think?

Sure - but I would love to see the Bears play an FCS OOC game as those non-D1 games hurt (even if you win big) when playoff at-large berths are determined. With NAIA schools Reinhardt and Warner already on the schedule, I'm just thinking positively (who thought we would be 10-2 this year?...and it almost got to the point that 'rankings' mattered for the 2013 playoffs. We would have had no chance of making the playoffs if it had come to that due to our schedule - which, BTW, I think was a FABULOUS schedule for last year!!!).
So....I would love to see PC, Savannah State, Grambling, or even Florida A&M come to Macon for that 12th game. All of those are POTENTIALLY winnable games and would, I believe, generate interest (and a crowd) in Macon.
