boothe is patient and comfortable in the post. I don't think he needs to speed up. today he just wasn't hitting decent looks. had a lot of shots rim out. I like when he makes the hard power move, but i'm fine w him working his way around the post w the ball.
the defense is active, guys really flow to the open man and help quickly w/o overreacting. we play the high post screen well and scrap at vulnerable ball handlers.
the offense was fun to watch in the second half. really moved the ball, found cutters, made jumpers...

Today when a couple of players' shooting was a bit colder than usual, there were several others that were right there to step up and fill the gap and the team still shot 50% from the field although the FT shooting was off a bit. Hopefully they will sell out Savage a few times before this season is over----if people see them play once, I think that they will like what the see and come back for more.
I thought that the refs let both teams get away with a lot of fouls on the shooter but did call a number of lesser fouls away from the ball. I was surprised that the box score didn't show Sam Houston more dominant on their offensive boards than they were because it seemed for a while there they owned their own board. However, UT seemed to do a better job on the boards down the stretch and when Sam Houston State' s shooting cooled off and UT stepped up their game a bit, UT pulled away surprising far and fast during the last 10 minutes of what had been a close game until then.
Somewhat reminiscent of the Detroit road game. This team can put up a lot of points in a hurry and if one guy has an off night another steps up. Some Toledo teams in the past seemed to find ways to come close and look good losing tight games. This team finds ways to win.

This is NW Ohio...not southern georgia, 3-6 inches of snow should never be the reason you dont go outside. I grew up in Wsiconsina and 3-6 inches was still considerred a dusting of snow.
I like what Ive seen so far this season as the teams rep is growing. I home they come out amped and notch another W. Id love to see Savage filled to the rafters with fans...iked the amp up in energy that the last couple games have shown...
On an aside, Ive held season tickets since I graduated (2002) and its so refreshing to see the fans coming back to savage and get loud. The dark years of coach cross feel like so long ago.
Love the hard ass mentality. That's usually the person who ends up in the ditch on the side of the road.
Didnt end up in a ditch, ended up in my seats for tipoff and cheering like hell for my Alma Mater...Tube sand in the back of the truck and leaving plenty of time for travel, works 'most every time

Toledo's perimeter defense the second halve was much better with pressure on the ball. Offense looks good when their not standing around watching each other. Jon Jon looks smooth on offense. Once he adds some strength he will be hard to stop.
I like boothes patience...and he is making good moves and taking good shots...I hope he keeps putting it up because that keeps the perimeter defenders sagging in to help leaving our perimeter guys more uncontested shots. Its great to finally have some bigs that can mix it up inside defensively and are looking to get to the basket...in the long run, thats gonna be huge in the conference slate.
I find it interesting that JD jumps center at the start of the game. That is a good move since he is so athletic. He is becoming a solid basketball player not just a terrific athlete. I look forward to seeing how he performs at Kansas when virtually their entire team has his type of athletic ability.
Spoon is always jumping against taller guys, but when he does the jump ball he normally leaves his feat, tips the ball and is down the court before the guy he's jumping against even reacts. He just explodes. At the last game I think he tipped it twice and almost recovered it himself before. I've only missed a game or two and not sure he's been out-jumped yet. I agree he is getting closer to not just being the most athletic guy on the floor. His basketball skills are improving. If he averages 14 points and half are dunks, I'll take that percentage any day.
