But the timing is very, very surprising.

The UMass job is an impossible one. They are a perfect example of a program that should not have ever been moved up to 1A. Not only are they dealing with all the pains of transitioning to a higher division, but they have to pay out the ass just to play a home game in front of 27 people. Good luck to the next coach and make sure your resume is ready for when you get fired in two seasons.

Temple did okay while in the MAC and I like UMASS' chances more after they move back to their renovated on-campus stadium next year. With the right coach they should be in a bowl game in a few years.
