Just heard that ticket sales aren't anywhere close to 9,500.

My hair is standing up, guys. What a great season.

Does anyone really think that Baylor is a much better, if at all, team then South Carolina? Should UCF be underdogs? Probably, but not overwhelming underdogs.

Offensively yes...Baylor has a better QB and WR than USC.

Defensively? Don't know and/or probably not.

Baylor's best asset to their defense is their high scoring offense...because their offense just JUMPS on teams so early/fast with TD's scored...it throws the opposing team's offensive gameplan out the door early.

UCF has not seen the type of offense Baylor is going to throw at them. Not even UL offense was as potent as Baylor. Vegas know what they are doing with this point spread.

That said, O'Leary has 30 days to figure something out so advantage UCF in that regard. My thoughts are UCF will probably want to control time of possession and keep Baylor off the field as much as possible.

On the flip side, don't underestimate Baylor's defense because it is a solid unit.
I don't know but I have two responses to that. Wasn't Florida overwhelming favorites against Lousiville last year? How'd that turn out?

Second, two high flying offenses in Texas A&M and Oregon got slowed down at the end of the year didn't they? Both were scoring at will until the last 3 or 4 games. UCF has a good enough defense to at least slow them down IMO, while their offense is not bad either.

Vegas does know what they're doing with the spread, but keep in mind that their objective is to make money. They base the spread off of what they think the bettors will do and then adjust it based on the betting. So they're more of an official source of public perception instead of being an objective game predictor trying to find an accurate point spread.

I don't think it is fair to quote the tickets purchased directly from the school. A lot of fans use ticketmaster or stubhub. That is just the facts.

Yes, If i were betting I'd bet on UCF. As the UL game last year showed, a P5 team playing the Big East/AAC team often lacks motivation, is depressed by who they have to play, and therefore don't show up.

OTOH, for the AAC/Big East team the BCS bowl is often a chance-of-a-lifetime so they tend to be fired up and motivated, which matters far more in football than in any other major sport.

True...and that's been going on for years and years now...but when the UL vs UF Sugar Bowl had the LOWEST attended game since 1939...that easily shows that many tix on the secondary market went unsold...even at bargain bottom prices.

Depends on for what purpose we are discussing this. If it's about how good a showing a school is making in terms of impressing bowls and potential P5 conferences they want to join, the official purchases from the school matter greatly, as that is what bowls and conferences care about.

If it's just about how many people wearing your school's t-shirt are in the stadium, than you want to count everything bought everywhere.

It's less about talent then style of play. You need to do whatever Oklahoma St said to hold them to 17 points. Didn't watch the game, so I don't know what they did to make it happen, but that is how you beat them. Outside of that game, the least amount of points they scored were 30 points to Texas and 35 to Kansas St. Everyone else gave up more than 40 (7 gave up 59 or more). Unless you can outscore them, you have to find something on defense that can throw them off. UCF has one a lot of close games, but their defense has given up a lot of points to some poor offenses.

So yes they should be an underdog. Doesn't mean they can't win, but it will take something we have yet to see.

I'll go back to my examples of Texas A&M and Oregon that you conveniently left out. They had the exact same pattern that Baylor had, that is scoring over 40 points against ever opponent until the last few games.

Good offenses can be slowed down, even more in college where you can bump and hold if you are beaten as a corner and only get at most 15 yard penalties. I don't know if UCF has the corners to play that style but that's exactly what I'd do if they have that type of corners. Frustrate the receivers and stop the run. It's what makes the Seattle Seahawks in the pros so good on D.

UCF just went 8-0 in the inaugural season of the AAC, including going 5-0 vs past Big East teams and had easily the biggest non-conf win in the entire conference.

UCF is doing just fine, thanks.

I didn't ignore it. But if you think a last four weeks of 63, 17, 41, and 30 are really "slowing them down" outside of the one game I pointed out, I don't know what to tell you?

Can't be fair when it's not true. Louisville sold 14,000, and 20,000 more bought them on the secondary market.

Now back to UCF. You can assume you knew more who were going, but no one cares how many fans will travel four hours to a game. As I said, the orange bowl is a flight for many teams who go. Louisville put 40,000, Cincinnati 30,000, West Virginia 40,000. Miami is not a reasonable drive so mostly you have to fly. Auburn and Florida state: they have to fly. Many Louisville people will fly to Orlando, although being 14 hours away "could" be driven. Baylor people, they likely have to fly to the fiesta as it is not a real drive able journey. Same with every other big 12 school. Ohio state: they have to fly to Miami. As do michigan state to pacedena.

So why can everyone else put numbers in a stadium they have to fly to, but not UCF?
flying out West from Florida last minute is a lot more expensive than flying or driving from Louisville are other midwest cities down to Florida. Check the prices, even the UCF fans that live in Atlanta get much cheaper fares b/c of it being a huge hub compared to the fans in Orlando, Tampa getting flights

Offensively, absolutely. They're a powerhouse on offense. It will be really tough to contain them but O'Leary's style will help.

Really?

You were one of the guys bashing USF's tix sold to the StPete Bowl b/c many purchased tix through other options for a variety of reasons?

I agree with you but many of UCF fans are being hypocritical....

More less sticking up for UL and FLA (I feel dirty). I'm not sure a really causal fan thinks about buying tickets through the school. It gets really obvious who travels well when you watch the games though.
