Guys, You can't really argue that Alabama is more deserving than Auburn....there was a head to head there. And Auburn's schedule was much stronger than even Alabama's (Auburn had a very difficult SEC slate as well). Auburn's resume. 5 wins over teams ranked in the top 25. 2 wins over teams ranked in the top 10. 11 of 13 opponents this year are bowl eligible. 10 wins versus FBS bowl eligible teams. Out of conference schedule Washington State, Ark State, Florida Atlantic, and West Carolina (not great, but no one else has any OOC wins either that really pop).
Michigan State? Beat 1 ranked team. One. Ranked. Team. And lost to Notre Dame, which has more losses than LSU. 6 wins against bowl ineligible teams. Out of conference schedule.. Western Michigan, South Florida, Youngstown State, and Notre Dame (loss).
Ohio State? Beat 1 ranked team. One. Ranked. Team. Did not win their conference. 5 wins versus bowl ineligible teams.
Baylor? Beat 1 ranked team. One. Ranked Team. Out of conference schedule... Wofford, ULL, and Buffalo, all at home. 5 wins versus bowl ineligible teams.
I know you guys want to whine about Auburn being in the NCG, but really can't make a credible case for any of the AQ 1 loss teams over Auburn. It doesn't work.
If you hate the SEC, please root for FSU, but you really can't credibly argue that Auburn doesn't deserve to be in the game. You may not like how Auburn got there, but wins and losses have to matter.
Auburn would NOT be in this game had Ohio State not lost to Michigan State. But Ohio State blew it so we went to 1 loss teams to pick FSU's opponent. And Auburn's resume was better than anyone else's in any objective analysis. You want to talk about a controversy, try 2004, when an undefeated SEC champion (Auburn) was left at home because of a .0001 differential in the BCS standings (Oklahoma went over Auburn and got smoked in the game). So its not like Auburn hasn't taken their lumps in this process too.
And if you hate the BCS, just wait till next year. If there was a playoff this year, FSU, Auburn, Alabama and Michigan State would be in the playoff. The Big XII and the Pac 12 would be out. And some of you guys would be screaming bloody murder about Baylor or Stanford being left out.
The good news for SEC haters....FSU is an 8 point favorite.
