We bend over backwards for ESPN and the MAC to weight our Novemeber schedule for the TV games and we ultimately get screwed because home fans don't want to attend a weeknight game that ends at midnight, F#$King MAC. OU played during the week in November as well, but played on the road twice, thus not affecting home attendance. We played two at home. Granted fans should show up no matter what, but they just don't in the MAC when the weather is fair.

We also step up in schedule difficulty to play the big boys and compete fairly well, which also messed up our Home vs Away schedule and kills fan support at the early, potentially good weather games. All those beautiful football Saturdays in Sept. and Oct. and the Rockets were on the road. Even our bye week ended up being spectacular football weather, dumb luck this year.

Toss in the unlucky weather either rainy or cold for the rest of our home games and you have a fan base that for the most part was taken out of the picture this year.

You would think we have approx the same alumni base across Florida so I don't buy that BS.

does anyone know the financial payoff for having our games on ESPN,or is there any at all??if we or the conference is getting nothing but national exposure it's about time we rethink the value of lost attendance and the fans being subjected to miserable weather conditions in november.i know from experience at these games it is a pain in the butt to have the men in red run onto the field every few minutes for their commercials, which besides leaving us sit there freezing, interrupts the flow of the game.down with ESPN november night games.

Hear, Hear. There is no question in my mind that at least the Northern game would have drawn better on a Saturday, and as an aside, although not directly related I think if the Navy game had remained at it's original start time, that game would also have been better attended because as I recall the weather ended up being much less an issue at the "original" time than it was when the game was actually played. As others have said, people attend college football games for the FULL experience, which means tailgating, which means Saturdays when people can afford the time to spend 5-6 hours total on the campus. End the insanity that is multiple weeknight games involving the same school (UT playing 2 for example)...no reason why it couldn't be just one of those a season. Tell the MAC Office to schedule better.

I agree 100%, we should do away with the week night games, except the contract with ESPN is with the MAC, and they, (ESPN and MAC) will control when we play, not us. Maybe it's time to start looking???????

Maybe Im being shortsighted, selfish, and likely abrassive...but, man up...oh its so late and I dont get to sleep enough...sissies 05-nono

Yeah, it sucks, but what else are you really going to do on a weeknight anyways...beside without a late season weeknight game, I have no excuse to leave work early and go deep fry a turkey in the parking lot for my groups annual thanksgiving feast tailgate in celebration of another season of fun with family and friends watching the good ole Blue and Gold, or gray, or black, or pink, or whatever color we're wearing now.

Exposure matters...I work with people from across the nation who only know of the University of Toledo because of MACtion on ESPN. Yeah, its rough on attendance, but if we play winning football, people will show up whenever.

People in Toledo will not show up whenever.

I disagree, you put winning football on the field...they'll be there.

RE: Give Me Reasons Why....
Technically we are a winning program. More accurate is that we are a team not living up to potential.

This is false. Late 90s early 2000s proves that when the Rockets are on caliber with 10 win seasons, they'll show up at gates. 2001 home games were record breakers.

If we can get the Rockets to consistently have a 9 or 10 win season, I think attendance will improve. Also need to schedule some nice opponents, not just BCS (or P5 conferences) but games against other conferences like ours.

Imagine if Marshall and Toledo agreed to a 1 and 1. That place should be packed. BYU, San Diego St, Utah State, Nevada (whohoo already placed), or down south, what about TCU? I know they are P5 but still show mid major in terms of wins/losses

I forgot to look ahead so I rest my case-- but like I said- we need games like these at the Glass Bowl.
