How Las Cruces gets down
This is a high school game between local schools. One of the biggest Rivalries in the nation. If NMSU was to get a winning team. Our games would most likely be like this. BTW this is Aggie Memorial Stadium

It's good to be back in the sunbelt. Hopefully NMSU can become a leader in this conference as we have all the necessary tools to do so.

RE: How Las Cruces gets down
I went to a big high school growing up and saw some good high school bands at football games. I now live in a small town with a small high school. I have been here for 5 years and it is still strange to me to see a band of almost 30 kids take the field. Just not the same as a band with almost 200.

I don't get it... why were the drum guys laying down at the start? Why did the big drum guys lay on top of their drums to play?

RE: How Las Cruces gets down
Thanks for sharing and WELCOME BACK.

Cruces is one of our favorite places to visit. The wife and I will be there the week of 16 December for our annual visit to spend some money in Old Mesilla, have some good Posole at La Posta, and chill in the beauty that is Cruces and the Organ Mountains.

If any of you see an old guy walking around with Red Wolf apparel on that will be me, hope to meet some of you guys while we are out and about in Cruces !!

Go NMSU . . Go SBC !! 04-cheers

My school isn't very big. Maybe around 2,000 lol and we average 30,000+ Fans at Aggie memorial.. Lol that's more that's most college teams lol

So Las Cruces NM and Valdosta GA are analogs of sorts.

Speaking as someome who went to high school with 3,100 students, 2,000 isn't big, but it's not exactly small either.

And 30k+ is not more than most college teams, more than many, sure, but not more than most.

A bit of a stretch even if based primarily on high school football.

Valdosta
Pop. 55K
Metro 140k

Las Cruces
Pop. 100k
Metro 215k

Las Cruces is 50 miles from a city of 1 million, unless I'm forgetting a city, Valdosta doesn't have a city of even 500k within 200 miles.

Not our fault that the SBC is not interested. NMSU would take a full conference invite in a heart beat.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "college football" is. If you mean FBS, you're absolutely right, if you include FCS, he's right. 148 FCS programs and I maybe 2-3 would even be able to achieve 30k in a season. I'd say adding those numbers to the programs to the FBS programs that cant match that, then his Most terminology would be correct.

With that said, I have no clue why I typed this or made this argument, I'm severely sleep deprived and I think George Clooney just knitted me a sweater out of kittens he found behind the Walgreens...either that or I'm going crazy.

There are universities backing NMSU as full members to the SBC.

RE: How Las Cruces gets down
Win and the fans will come. It’s as simple as that at just about any program. I’ve been critical of NMSU in the past but as members of the Sun Belt I will be pulling for you. When you have a long history of losing and little fan support, it’s a hard cycle to break. I’ve seen it first hand with the App basketball program. We need the fans to support the program if we are going to be successful, but we need to be successful to get the fans to support the program. Hoping both our programs can find the right coaches to put us on a different path.
