NIU Football angle to stay excited
I am so deflated like so many of us after the MACC. It really hurts for sure. Watching all the football shows without NIU in the BCS mix just hits me in the gut.

Trying to find an angle to feel better it really comes down to closing out the year strong in Bowl game and ending up Top 25 in every poll out there- save for CFN which is ridiculous and does not count.

At the end of the day a Top 25 finish is a really great year for NIU. It also has the sound bite attribute for the "NIU is Division 1?" people I run into which infuriates me to no end. This really is key for me. Top 25 cannot be ignored and is a respected spot to be in.

Meanwhile, the sports depression we are all in hurts to say the least. But, these guys played their butts off and I am proud to be their fan. We really should be very proud and I know I will once the current frustration passes thru.

For all of players looking at this board- your the best, keep your head up and be proud of your accomplishments. NIU nation is behind you all the way.

Finally....thank you! Today's columns by Barry Rozner and Shannon Ryan should be required reading to the NIU faithful fan base.

Heartbroken, but still ranked is helping ease the pain. I remember the first time NIU made the top 25, I nearly wet myself. Is this the first time NIU lost while ranked and was still ranked the next week? Maybe 2003?

Barry Rozner's article was very nicely written; well said. I posted it on my Facebook page for my Big 12 & SEC friends to read, although I think several of them won't understand it. I could not access Shannon Ryan's article.
